What's the point in getting bolt ons?

I don't think S2000 needs any more "power" upgrade, so for future if i were to get an exhaust, it would be a dual because it looks better, 240 hp is way more than enough just driving normally on the streets and maybe tracks for myself, but maybe for some of the member here is not enough so they going turbo instead. I like N/A Cars and my car would probably stay that way.

I think the point of bolt on is that you get to fix up your car to what YOU like, not other people, regardless of the car gaining hp or not, its your ride, do what you want.
I agree 100%. If I wanted a car with gobbs of hp I would have bought an STi, EVO, Corvette, etc... I bought the S because it's a very well balanced car. Bolt ons simply accentuate the already awesome car the S is out of the box.

I plan on getting an HKS HiPower Exhaust and PRM intake. I could care less if I lose 10hp, I will love the sound and looks, and the car is already fast enough for me!

I miiiight get 4.56 gears in 9 years after my warranty is up!

EDIT: terrible spelling, still drunk from last night

To some people, myself for instance feel that aesthetic "gains" are just as important if not more than performance gains.

If I wanted to buy this car for it's performance and speed, I would've gone down the evo/sti or 350z/fully built FD road. I just thought this car was the best bang for buck for looks/style/and incredible driving adrenaline. I really don't mind what others call me for having a slow car ... At least I enjoy driving my car instead of thinking about what bolt on/mod to put on next to beat xxxx person in a race. Having an exhaust/intake is purely for my enjoyment and I think it's a great mod to have especially in vtec

It's about personalization, and making yourself happy. I know my comptech exhaust is not the best exhaust performance gains or weight wise, but it looks classy and gives the s2000 a nice deep tone.

The s2000 is a blast to drive out of the box, more power is just icing on the cake. I haven't bough an intake or any other performance stuff because I'm debating going turbo down the road or not.

I feel people put bolt on mods on their car to personalize it. That's why I did it.

Distinction. I don't want to have the same car as any of you. Plus I enjoy competing in BSP, and every little bit can help my confidence as I brake late and enter the turn too fast...

im stayin to hondas plan and keeping it n/a (ITB's ftw!!!) just love the throttle response and 9k redline. i could just go boost and get 400rwhp, but i might as well pick up an evo or sti if i wanted that.

I agree. I purchased my car off a previous member of this Forum who already did a couple of mods. While the exhaust sounded great and was just slightly louder than stock when I wanted it to be, I sold it off to pick up another exhaust. I've been modding my car to fit my particular tastes, just like I buy my clothing based on what I like.

If there's no point in buying "useless" mods, then why can't that apply to everything else? Why by this car and mod to 500hp when you can just buy a car with that much? Why buy wheels when you SHOULD by the lightest ones possible (even if they're ugly in your opinion?)? Hell, why buy designer clothing?

If we all never modded or did anything our cars, then the S2000 Homecoming would have been hell trying to find my car.
