Yeah, that was "TurboDave". You'll note that he was going down a very long, steep hill. Note: 281 kph = 175 mph, but we know the car is rev-limited to 165. The limiter didn't cut in, but his tach was fully lit and blinking, so we can agree to call it an honest 165.

and can factors like humidity, road surface, or anything at all effect engine performance or create significant friction (cutting through dense air, driving on coarse tarmac, etc.)?
Read between the lines about your question of a track day. Remember this is public on the internet

165mph is definitely top speed, but almost unlikely to obtain, maybe under perfect conditions (if there is such a thing)

Am sure there is a video on the site showing a stock S2000 doing 169 mph.
Personally I've got over 130 mph out of the car and she still had a lot to give.

if you got the rev limiter to cut off the engine at that speed, i wonder what will happen to your car? 5, 6 spins or more?

NO WAY that it will go 165. Not enough HP! And I strongly question that 151 with top down. On the speedo maybe but not actual. Mine reads 4 mph high at 80 so 151 indicated is probably about 144 true.

I've done 150, top up, at sea level. Didn't push it any further.

I know a couple people who went 162 and 165 top down with power in reserve, and they only stopped because of traffic coming up ahead. Of course... the road was a little tiny bit downhill, at sea level-ish, and in the nighttime cold air.

165 mph with the top down?? Wow, there must be some serious wind noise at this speed.... Pretty scary to me that some people drive that fast with the top down...

140, top down, 5th gear ran out of RPM's, shifted to 6th, and pull was VERY slow, so I shut down, it was a bit down hill, about 80 degree, and a bit humid, and yes it was loud.

V8-What?
