what's smoking?
#1
I have an s2000 with 1400 mi.,went to a track to drive it hard, car did great. One strange thing happened, on a very tight right hand turn, something seemed to smoke as I would exit the turn. Engine seems to be ok,I could repeat the smoking when I would enter the turn as hard as I was able. If I took the turn any less than 100% of my ability the car would not smoke. The smoke was white in color, seemed to come from the left of the car and towards the rear as far as I could tell. Someone said it could be a wheel bearing seal leaking under the pressure of the g-forces, but I could not see any fluid leakage from any of the wheels. My other thought is a brake pad dragging against the rotor causing it to heat up and smoke. The smoke would only last for a 2 - 3 second period. HAS ANYONE HEARD OF THIS HAPPENING WHEN THE CAR IS DRIVEN HARD THROUGH A TURN? Thanks!

I am not clear where you are saying the smoke is coming from. If it's coming out the exhaust pipes, it's most likely caused by too much oil. I have seen another S2000 do this around turn 10 on Gingerman FIVE TIMES...and every time I was right behind him! Cough cough!!!
Where exactly is this smoke coming from? Did you look to see if you have goo from the wheel bearing? Brake pads can definitely smoke...I would bet that would be more likely than the wheel bearing.
Hmmm
