What's up with the modifications?!?
LMAO.........This reminds me of last nights fight. God I am glad the Prince got his ass kicked.
Driving the car and at the pace, speed, acceleration is all driver chosen. Such as these possible mods. To keep it original or SC is all about you the driver, not the car. I would much rather enjoy the song of 9K rpm's than worry about the future of this car. It is an extension of you when driving. Some need more, some are happy with whats given......some dont care
.
Personally because I am a car dealer of sorts I am against severe modding. Because of resale etc. I have lost several thousands in the last 5 years to this. But I am also considering the fact that I have a kick butt warantee for a stock race car. I am thinking the Mugen header/exhaust is a real possibility. But for the money and what I am getting for advanced performance is it really worth it? I think so and i retain the warantee. I can replace the exhaust when I sell and its not $$ to do the change over.
But hey I dont race on tracks and my needs may be different than most. Its a great car though and I cant wait to eat up my partners brand new regular Boxster that he paid 50 large for.
Beige and GTR are different owners. We should not slander either. Purist are both stockers and modders.
The Vain Glutton.

Motives. Ah, yes. If, through "enlightenment" about the wisdom of not modifying the S2000, one can change the minds of those who do modify into nonmodifiers and make them happier more fulfilled people, so much the better.
I have considered the argument against modifying and have decided to keep my S2000 modified in favor of the enjoyment and positive "butt dyno" factor. I have let other S2000 drivers drive my car and they stated mine does feel stronger sub-vtec. I am content and have no regrets in having modified this "work of art".

Nick,
Does what is written below ring any bells in your head?
[QUOTE]So, what's your story? Have some of you purists begun to relax a little and say hey, it's MY car, I want to do with it what I wish? And with all the aftermarket gear that is
coming out now, has this relaxed your attitude towards making changes to Soichiro's jewel roadster?

You don't have to wait 30 years for the car's value to reward you or bite you. Go to sell a modified beyond redemption S2000 now, or next year or at any time. If you have some body kit or some big wing on it the resale value is much less than if you were selling a pristeen stock one. So not only did you waste your money on some bullsh*t mod, you have wasted even more money in what you lose in resale value. As far as "improving" the car, most of these mods DETRACT from the performance of the stock car. Big wheels may look cool but they in many cases zap some HP. Body kits are abortions and even if you think they look cool they probably do nothing but add weight and drag. Big wings-same deal. Lowered suspension unless you plan on racing on a smooth track they are foolish you will be hurting your street handling.
DISCLAIMER - Of course each person is entitled to do whatever they want to their cars. I am only expressing this OPINION because the question was asked.
It's a car. Drive it. Have fun with it. You only live once, and I for one, am not going to wait 30 years for my Honda to "maybe" get any price I ask for it. I like modifying
cars- tinkering with them, personalising them. Steve McQueen's Ferrari NART spider is valuable precisely because he added a high wing and fender flares-uniqueness gave it a higher perceived value, besides the fact that it was McQueen's car, and that was the easiest way to recognise it. I, for one, know that the current owner of that particular car loves telling people that it's McQueen's car, not just "any old NART"...

Any of this ring a bell?
You're the one who picked a fight with me. Not the other way around.
I never asked for your opinion. I only posted ( and continuously had to repost) to this thread in response to your continuously erroneous finger/keyboard dancing.
Try again.

I really enjoy chocolate. Does anyone else here like chocolate? At McDonald's in my area is a gumball machine. The guy that has the gumball machine is on my project team. His name is Aage (pronounced like 'Augie'). He's from Norway. Very cool guy. But he keeps that gumball machine filled with M&M's, both the regular and the kind with peanuts inside.
I curse him because I can't stop eating those damn things. Damn, I love chocolate...
Those who don't like chocolate have a right not to like chocolate. But should not calls us chocolate eaters rude names.
I think both of you clowns made good points, and frankly, I side with Nick. He's a good friend of mine and he's a little outspoken at times...
Soichiro wants you to drive your S2000, not put it in your garage, invite your friends over and show them that hideous carpet, or show them how bad the stock speakers are.
Hey, cars are all about personalizing. I have NEVER EVER suggested that anyone go and put mods on their S2000 that don't do anything. Stickers, ack...no.
I personally couldn't give two shakes what the resale value of Scarlet will be. That never even entered into my decision to purchase. Given that, it's still my car to do with what I choose to do with it. I am only interested in performance modifications. The S2000 does not lend itself to being riced out...(sorry if that terms offends you).
I would hope that people who modify their S2000's (like me and Nick and countless others) could do so without being castigated like someone who has commited grand larceny against Mother Teresa...(I know, kinda hard now that she is dead) I think this thread was an interesting study into the human mind and perceptions about what material things mean to us.

Bieg-
It's always endless when it concerns you, since you seem to need the whole scope described to you every time we revisit a debate, or you will go off on an endless tangent. You're pointless, and this is starting to get retarded, especially since you don't want to play anymore. I'm taking my brain home.
Greg-
I like chocolate too. Not as much as you. Michele told me that chocolate covered strawberries are nice. She's also very nice.
I've never gone fishing. Would you like to go this summer sometime? Of course, we will have to use the truck- the poles will not fit in the trunks of the S2000...
