While I'm here visiting
I've driven a friends S2000 in autocross. I am disappointed of lack of torque specially in autocross where you have to stop and go. However, I saw him drove the car in Limerock (club racing) and very impress the way it holds with the big guns. I think road race where you don't need to fully stop and go, the car shines specially in the twist and bends. I must admit the car is far better than: Audi TT, Mr2, WRX, Miata, Z3 BMW & strongly believed better than the Porsche Boxters too (some might disagree). The power is ok but Honda can put a little bit more and this car is 10 !
I drive nothing except mid engine or rear engine car. I don't mind to have S2000 cruising in the New England fall foliage!! Its good looking & I know I won't get stuck.

No offense, but you probably weren't driving the S right, as I've never had to "fully stop and go" at an auto-x. Even with a lower torque figures, the S is quite competitive in the AS class, as it usually takes first at most of the events (of course, with competent drivers). Sounds like you need a bit more seat time in the S. It will be a harder car to drive "correctly."
Nice Espirit, BTW.

Autocrossing is not my cup of tea but its fun if there's nothing else to do on Sunday afternoon. Autocrossing happens in abandon parking lots & shopping centers. If you are lucky, also happens in an abandon air force base tarmac. If you do the autocrossing at the abandon parking lot, the space is very limited. The pylons spacing and track design are limited and very short. Therefore, you can't avoid stop and go.
Perhaps as you said, I need more time to get use to it.

I DON'T LIKE FRONT WHEEL CARS PERIOD!!
MY statement is pure and simple. Enthusiast has a right to voice its preference. One reason I like S2000.

The S is RWD and considered mid-engined by some (as in the engine is between the front and rear wheels).
Does this post have a point?
I'm glad to hear the S is better at autocross than the Miata or Z3... who woulda thunk it?
Also, how do you confuse front engine with front wheel drive?! I don't think you're going to hear many people defending FWD in serious car conversations...
BTW, I would almost pick the S2000 over a 911 just because the engine sits in the right place.

Fair enough, but who mentioned FWD?
