Jehman and Mybad are cars are equiped with an electric air pump that runs when you start the car to heat up the cat and reduce emissions, that is the noise you are hearing.

Just curious but does this happen only with your air conditioning on? My air conditioner makes noises exactly like you desribe when it is on. Sounds just like I have a turbo or something. I think something may be wrong with it.

Nope. I don't think I have used the air conditioning once yet. Even though SoCal gets hot I have this thing with air conditioning. I swear that it makes me car-sick. Call me superstitious.

Hope it's not a problem with your air!

Xviper,

You do Cliff so well! Your avatar looks like his baby picture too, sans mustache.

OK, mine whistles too. I hear it most often when shifting up right as I put my foot onto the gas. It's a quick one and then silence until the next upshift.
The guys at the dealership already hate me. What to do...

I really noticed it today. It sounds cool, but not normal.
Slight pressure on the pedal and there it is. A little more pressure and it's gone. Make a quick whistle through your teeth. Starting at a low pitch and getting higher. I can get it sustained, but it takes a steady foot. It's definitely coming from under the good.

I have a whine in my passenger seat.
It's my wife screaming at me to slow down while going up Loveland Pass

Hey Incubus,

Do you have a hard-top on your car? Sounds like we have the same noise. It's most evident when I am about half way on the gas. Less than that and it goes away, more than that and it's not as loud. Strange, but my theory is that it is a normal noise that we just don't hear without the hard-top. Haven't broke down yet, knocking on wood.

I took the top off of my air box to see if the noise would get louder but it doesn't seem to?
