Whine or Whistle from car?

However, mine is only noticeable when I stop the car. It sounds like the radiator fans are going non-stop all the time. I havn't started to hear this until recently (a week or so).
You would think the car should be fairly quiet when idling, but mine is loud.
I'm going to take it in to the dealer anyway, but i was hoping someone might save me a trip and mention a few things I can try.
Thanks

Koala, I could be wrong but I would bet that this is coming from your CIA and is quite normal. I have recently installed a CIA (though diff from yours) and now have the exact same noise (sounds like fans are running). I found it to be the exact same noise that you will hear it you were to remove the stock airbox lid but slightly quieter.

You are right that this intake makes a whistling noise normally, but I'm just a bit concerned that he has only noticed it lately and only when the car is idling at a stop.

Agreed..I am wondering if I should now be concerned about mine
?. Whne I first installed mine (spoon snorkel type) it was cold and driven just a couple of time on dry days and noticed NO noise when stopped or when parked in garage after a drive. Now that the weather has warmed it now makes this whistling noise when parked in the garage or if I walk in front of the car while ideling. When I first heard it I would blip the throttle from under the hood and it would not affect the noise at all. The car drives fine and the noise is completly drowned out once driving and I can only hear when in the car if stopped next to a building.. hmmmmm

Your case is EXACTLY like mine. Only noticed it since its warmed up outside, and I really hear it if I'm next to a building (going thru a drive-thru for example).
I might try resetting my ECU.
Okay here is whats happening. I reset the ECU, and the noise is still there. I have the hood open, radiator fans are not spinning. It sounds like a vacuum cleaner... and the sound is definitely coming from the air filter area.
However, I can some-what reach in there and the filter appears to be on tight.
What else can I try?
Is this even a *bad* sound, or just annoying? Im tempted to go back to the stock airbox quite honestly.

Can you fellas eliminate other sources as the possible origin of this noise? When you hear it, can you zero in on it? Is one of the fans going? Is the emission control air pump going? This is in the car's left front bumper space behind the fake duct. These are the only two other things I can think of that is not affected by engine speed.
Get a toilet paper roll and put it on your AEM pipe and listen through the other end when you hear the sound. If it's the AEM, you'll hear it even louder. DON'T GET YOUR CLOTHES CAUGHT IN THE FAN SHOULD IT SUDDENLY TURN ON! OR THE SERPENTINE BELT, EITHER!

After trying the other stuff I just mentioned, here's one more:
Disconnect the AEM right at the throttle body, start the car. Now, does it still make that noise? If it stopped, then it's the AEM. Before you abandon it, maybe have someone else who has had an AEM listen to it. Koala, I'd be glad to meet up with you to have a listen.
