whiplash compensation?
My wife was rearended last night. Vehilce had minor damage as it was our jeep.. ( luckily not the s2000).
The lady said she stepped on the gas instead of the brakes.
My wife has pretty bad whiplash and the pain is even worse today. After waiting in urgency care for 2 hours the doctor gave her vicodin and motrin.
We went and met with the other peoples insurance today (PROGRESSIVE). They are willing to pay the doctors bill. They told us that they would give us a whopping $200 if we agreed not to pursue it any futher and closed the claim. We told them we would wait a few weeks to see how her neck and back feel. The guy says they will still probably only give her $200.
Does any one know how to determine what is fair compensation for someone who has whiplash pain and suffering?
Anyone have the same situation.

200 is like spitting in your face.
if it does end up behind chronic pain you should contact a injury attorney and they'll help you out. the attorney will build of your case based on the physical therapy and the harshness of the accident( what speed, what involved, how damaged the cars are.) lawyer takes their cut of the settlement.
seriously if this is a lifetime injury i would definitely sue. you are probably looking at their offer times 100 at least. anyway a lawyer will be able to tell you what your options are better than i could.
my guess is more like 50g's

I've seen people get $1500-$3000 personal injury compensation for common accidents such as this one. This of course, involves some type of recovery course such as chiropratic, which takes months.

Don't take anything until your sure that there is no long lasting problems, some can take awhile to surface and the pain meds will mask them, there can be her lose of work or quality of life. Start to keep a diary of pain levels and Dr. visits, meds, milage and your lose of work if needed. Hopefully there isn't any and settle for getting your Jeep fixed. If you take that $200 and find out later that she does have a problem than your SHI# out of luck you already settled.

I wouldn't settle for anything until you know how serious an injury it is. As someone said, the pain may be gone in a week.
If you need an attorney, you won't have to pay for one. Lawyers take cases like yours on a contingency basis. If they win, they take 30% (or so) of the settlement amount, and you get the rest. If you can't find a lawyer willing to take you on, it's probably not worth pursuing in the first place. They won't take a case they have no chance of winning.
My cousin was in a fairly serious accident, requiring back surgery. His case was settled for $250,000. Of course, being young, he spent most of it in strip clubs. After nine months he had nothing to show for it but a Subaru SVX he'd spent $22k on.

I would deffinitely have her get therapy after that. THat kinda injury does stay with you for a while. I would get a lawyer to help you find what you can get for compensation. $200 only covers 2 doctors visits, not including any tests or medicine...
