whiplash compensation?

My cousin was in a fairly serious accident, requiring back surgery. His case was settled for $250,000. Of course, being young, he spent most of it in strip clubs. After nine months he had nothing to show for it but a Subaru SVX he'd spent $22k on.
Did they xray or do an MRI? I was rearended in April of 2003 and thought I had mild whiplash, so I got chiropractic care and massage for two months, at my own expense. The pain got worse, so I opted to use the insurance HMO and an MRI determined I had fractured two vertebrae. Now I've got a bone spur obstruction that compresses my spinal cord about halfway. The massage and chiro did not cause this, but if I had known earlier the course of treatment would have been a lot different. I didn't think it was that serious at the time, so you never know.

Don't take anything until your sure that there is no long lasting problems, some can take awhile to surface and the pain meds will mask them,
Don't sign away before you know how it will turn out.
These injuries can take a while to heal.
Their insurance will pay for physical therapy.
The neck pain will get better soon (if no fractures).
Neck brace and rest.
Also, make sure you adjust headrests in ALL vehicles that you can. Makes a big difference. People don't do this enough. Especially if you and your wife are different heights. Now in the s2000, you're out of luck.
They will continue to pay. Don't let them scare you into thinking they won't. They're just trying to pressure you. If it really continues to hurt because of the accident, they're still obliged to pay. And they know it.
Yeah under no conditions take a small payoff to void your legal rights in the future.
Also my uncle got rearended and the insurance agent did a piss poor job of checking over the vehicle. Make sure to get the jeep checked out by an independent source, there could easily be structural damage that is not obvious.

My wife was rearended last night. Vehilce had minor damage as it was our jeep.. ( luckily not the s2000).
The lady said she stepped on the gas instead of the brakes.
My wife has pretty bad whiplash and the pain is even worse today. After waiting in urgency care for 2 hours the doctor gave her vicodin and motrin.
We went and met with the other peoples insurance today (PROGRESSIVE). They are willing to pay the doctors bill. They told us that they would give us a whopping $200 if we agreed not to pursue it any futher and closed the claim. We told them we would wait a few weeks to see how her neck and back feel. The guy says they will still probably only give her $200.
Does any one know how to determine what is fair compensation for someone who has whiplash pain and suffering?
Anyone have the same situation.

The way the S2000 is it's nearly impossible to get whiplash from your head extending back and over the headrest.

Why would that be good news? If your wife was in your S2000 she wouldn't have whiplash

I was stopped and the guy hit me doing 30. That whiplash really hurt for about a week and a half. I did the Chiropractor, X-ray, pain meds and got $2500 after the lawyer fee. It did eventually completely heal up after a month or so, but I was 19 or 20 at the time so that may have something to do with it. That was in '95.
So if you are to get rearended, I would recomend doing it in an S as opposed to a '67 mustang.

Yep, $600+ a night and it goes fast. He learned his financial habits from my Aunt, who used to get comped limo trips to AC from North Jersey. Needless to say, she didn't come out ahead either.
