When my brother and I were hit by some guy, I had a very minor neck pain which lasted a whole 2 days and I got $500 for that. My brother had neck pain for about 4 days, went to the doctor, and he got $1200 for it. I would definately think that your wife would get comptensated for alot more since her injury seems to be worse. There are also a few things that usually go into consideration when insurance companies try to configure the awarded amount such as how did the injury effect your daily routine, abscence of work, etc. If you are not satisfied with what they end up giving her, just argue with them b/c most of the time the are pretty leniant (from what I have found).

3x medical bills. If you have to, get an arbitrator. Lawyers--even the ones you hire, will you in the ass and expect you to pay for it.

For comparison sake, I was hit by an old lady in a Taurus. I was on my mountain bike. I got 1000. Rear ended before that - $1500. Broken back before that (drunk driver) and even though no amount of cash was/is worth the complications, my lawyer, may he rot in hell, took about 50% when it was all said and done.

Yep, $600+ a night and it goes fast. He learned his financial habits from my Aunt, who used to get comped limo trips to AC from North Jersey. Needless to say, she didn't come out ahead either.
Holy crap! $600 a night? for how many nights? I can imagine $600 for ONE night if it was a special ocassion. But $600 a night until the money was gone in a strip club? dang... i think for $600 you can get a high class escort. Some of those women are REALLY fine too from looking at this pics.

Lawyers go for 1/3 + other fees... copies, photos or outside research which can add up to 40% - 50% total easy find out up front. Sometimes you can negotiate with a attorney for a lower rate 25% + fees or an all included rate 33% flat. It cost nothing to shop around for one, but beware keep on top of them even if your calling them every day and if your not happy with their service and you feel that they are not working for your best interest some states will let you change attorneys.
Request x-rays and MRI asap to help with the type treatment needed.
Hope that she gets well soon and you don't have to go through any of this.

It was insane. I went with him a few times, and I couldn't believe it either! His favorite club was a juice bar in Nyack, NY (full nudity), and he could easily drop $500-$1000 a night there.

I don't know what he was thinking, although I know what he was thinking with

I tried to convince him to buy real estate, stocks, anything. Oh well.

Damn this insurance thing is getting me steamed. I dealt once with an insurance company when I was nailed on my mountain bike by an old lady who cut across my lane. I wound up with multiple lacerations, road rash and a messed up/sprained right hand (nothing broken). The lady's car had no damage whatsoever and she was uninjured.

Her insurance company offered to pay for only half of my medical expenses and I was expected to eat the all property damage (cracked frame, bike was totaled). So much for expecting a fair settlement w/o a lawyer. One lawyer call later, it was $8K + property damage plus 100% of medical. Lawyer took his half out of the $8K. All I wanted out of it originally was medical + bike replacement.

Still the Ins. Co. tried to get revenge. They reported the accident to the DMV who then got on my case about it (as I did not report it). When the DMV actually called me at home to threaten me about not reporting the "bike" accident, I told them it was a bicycle not a motorcycle. They then told me to have a nice day and I haven't heard from them since.

Definitely take more then just $200... I would of laughed right there in their face.

I would go look in the phone book for an attorney that takes only 33% and talk to them about it and ask how much they think they can get... Shop around for attorneys... Asking them about it should be free... If it isn't then try a different one.

I think you can get at least $10k for this (AT LEAST)... And I also think you should take some exams... Not for money purposes but also for yourself.

My ex had an accident few years back. The total cost to repair the car was only $1500 but her medical bills came to $5000. She was okay immediately after the accident but that night she threw up a lot and two days later her jaw got stuck, called TMJ. Anyway The insurance wouln't pay and we decide to hire a laywer but unfortunately the guy that we hire was a crook and we lost our case. He often refer accident victims to see doctors who would also pay their victims to come to the office. It end up costing us more than the doctor's bill. We also have to pay the other party for their attorney's fee. JUST BE VERY CAREFUL WHO YOU HIRE.
