Who likes the carpet center console?

i was considering an '02 model after my '01's gone, but i can't stand the fact that it has that covered console stuff. (and the glass rear... but that's another story.)

I like the carpet. Although, I do have the Ricks console on the way. I just think it gives the cars interior a more upscale look. But the carpet does have more of a "warm" feeling to it.
I don't like the carpet simply because it collects lint, grass, hairs, etc. so easily. Also, for a car in this price range, I would expect something more than cheap carpeting on the console. To each their own!
I like it from a purist point of view. The car was designed to be as elemental a sports car as possible (with a few concessions to livability). Little resources were spent on such things as stereo quality or interior fancy work. The carpeted center console is a reminder of that.

Hardly qualifies as a "elemental sportscar" to me.
However, I do love it in spite of some of the decisions Honda made about how to equip the car. It puts a smile on my face every time I drive it.
It's a fast, fun car with a cheap interior. Call that a "feature" if you want. But no performance gain is added by the low-grade carpet and the crappiest stereo in the industry. If only performance was the goal, it would have no carpet and no radio.
To each his own, I say. Modify it if you want. Revel in the perceived advantage of the carpet if you want. I haven't seen fit to change it, but I do believe that the covered console looks and feels much better. The beauty of being a car guy is that you get to "roll your own."

I've never been a fan of leather so add me to the list of those who don't mind the carpet console. I would have preferred a durable "warm" fabric on the seats too. Leather ---- cold and slippery in winter, hot and sticky in summer --- YUCK! I'd rather eat the cow than sit on it.
