think if I have the money for this ... I would have the money to keep my S
If I had the money for this im sure the S would be using up a very valuable spot in my garage for something a little more "stately"

Not me, I'm not all that attached to cars, I just like having something very fun to drive. I like to buy used, and a few years old though (why would ANYONE buy a new car?!? seems like the dumbest idea to me), i'm thinking in about 3-4 years I will sell this and get a Sky Redline, I see a lot of potential for fun with that car and by then current models will be dirt cheap used. I would consider a 350z vert as well. There's no other cars out now that really catch my attention except the Elise, but im not paying that much for something which could end up wrecked or vandalized.

The red MX5 will be 20 years old next year, and in this state that means I can get a "Classic Car" tag. Twelve more years to go with the S2000.

About a year ago, I stumbled on a real deal on a new SLK 280 from a Mercedes dealer, but the price was only on a "no trade" basis. It was a real offer you can't refuse. Now for those who haven't driven them, the SLK 280 (called the 300 for '09) is a much faster car than you might think. So I bought it and then considered the fate of our '01 S 2000 with 31K miles and "as new condition". As I quickly found out, used car values are "in the tank" and the s2k was worth only about what I'd saved on the SLK 280. As I had garage space to keep the s2k, doing so was a "no brainer". So, unless the market value/quality ratio changes dramatically on the s2k, I'm just going to keep it. Simply stated, the s2k is worth much more to me than I could sell it for. So, looks like it is a permanent member of the family!
