Just thought I would awaken an old thread.

Thanks to this thread, I had my private Honda shop (Acutech in Greenville, SC) put my 06 (2000 miles) on the lift. Sure enough, I found one set of spacers still in the left front. The ride quality is noticeably improved on rough pavement, over lane dots, and tar strips.

And, the dealer delivered my car with the warning tag about the spacers still wrapped around the shift lever.

THANKS S2KI.COM

If it weren't for this thread, I wouldn't have known to check for the !@#$&!# spring spacers which wer still on my new car after 1400 miles.

Not just a Safety issue either... night and difference in handling AND the car will sit lower too.

i believe mines the worst story.
purchased new 06 and found them same day i picked up the car.
actually friend saw that the car was too high and thought it looked odd so he checked and saw them

went back to the dealer to have em remove it but then something magically happened.... they took it out..all the spacers and gave me a FREE .. dent!!!!

bastards accused me of giving the dent myself, but i'd argued and said that you can actuallly see the grease left from whatever they hit in their service department. eventually they fixed it and offered a fee teflon coat..*which btw sucks a$$ and doesnt work, or they didnt put it on and said they did*

so now i do not go to that dealer to get it service. but i was only driving around for about 20 miles with em on . 7500k is alot

Okay, have to tell on myself!

After owning a MY02 and now a MY06 S2000 you would think that I would know better than to trust the service department on this - or would at least trust but verify. Needless to say after owning the MY06 since 14 Jan 06 and with 3500 miles on it, I decided I would thoroughly check the car for spacers. I did a hand check when I picked it up but it was cold so I didn't craw under the car (and I didn't have a flashlight to make it more challenging). Anyway ran accross this thread today and thought I'd better check it out just in case - ended up finding one spacer still in place on the drivers side front.

In slight defense of the dealer I bought it from (and where I purchased my MY02, which had all the spacers out), this S2000 was brought in from another dealer - approximately 90 miles away. I would like to bet that my dealer "assumed" the other dealer performed the preflight. Of course it ticks me off since I specifically asked if they checked to make sure they were removed.

Live and learn, I suggest anyone who purchases a S2000 check this out for themselves and not take a dealers word for it. Easy to spot with a flashlight since they are rubber and fit between 4 of the spring coils - around 6 inches long. One bright spot, at least they don't cause any harm being left in.

Wow, i cant believe how many people still have these spacers in their cars! It seems like a crazy amount!
It really makes you wonder about the quality of work the dealers are doing...

I bought my car last fall used. 2005 w/a tad over 20,000 miles on it. I found one of these on the driver's side front coil when I was removing my wheels to paint them. I popped it out. I didn't know, but I figured since none of the other springs had them that this one should come out!

hmmm. My s2k's handling has been a little... unpredictable (snap oversteer at 30MPH under less than 10% throttle load, WTF?), maybe i need to look into this.

I'll be pissed if i find some though, since i just bought my s2k used last week from a dealership. that would mean 2 dealerships overlooked something potentially life threatening.

Looking for the spring spacers was the first thing I did when I got the car.
Look how many I've found from mine.
