Why did you chose an S
I test drove the evo mr, sti, 350z and the s2k. all were 07 models. Evo and sti were great, but I really didnt care for them to much. Plus there a dime a dozen in my town. 350 has great torque and power but just seemed a little hefty. I finally drove the s2k, and immediately fell in love with it. light and nimble. not the most power but the feeling was just right.
Blather all you want.
Mine was love at first sight. I think it was the red/black interior that sold me. Didn't even take a test drive before signing the papers. Haven't regretted it. I did look at a RX-8 a couple months before and test drove a R-32 which was fun but it didn't quite have what I wanted. Coming up on two years in November with 13.5K mi. I do neglect it at times though as I love riding motorcycles. Currently have three of them and deciding what to drive/ride every day is pure torment.

More or less love @ first sight. Owned a Prelude before and have always loved Honda since then. Really liked the S2000 since it first came out
Pretty much got my mind set on the S when I was buying a car. But just wanted to check out other cars. Checked out 350z, E46 M3, etc. but didn't like them ... and bought the S

I really liked the MY2000 but the dealer had a 12K markup. I was going to buy an 04 350Z but paid for a 5th year of college. Employee bought an 04 and strored it at our house when we sent him to Philly. We bought an 05 in Feb 2005.
Shopped around the entire automall, (Capital) for a new car. Looked at the 350Z, G35, RX-8, Lancer Evolution IX, WRX Sti, BMW 328i (This one was test driven at the Stevenscreek dealership) and the S2000. I test drove the RX-8 first and was pretty impressed at the handling, but didn't have enough power for my taste. The Evo was a powerful little thing for such a small engine, but the interior just killed it. I felt as if I would get bored of the car in a couple months. WRX was an improvement on the interior since the Evo test drive, but needless to say, the two rally cars were too track inspired and less civilian sports car feel to me. Then I drove the 350z along with the G35, and they were both nice cars, just really really heavy. G35's interior was too luxurious for me, and the 350z well, I was actually considering it. The only two choices I had left in the end before I made my purchase was the S2000 vs. 350z. When I test drove the S2000, it was a 2007 GPW. I instantly fell in love with the styling, and the top down experience. Although it doesn't have the power of the 350z, but the car and community that the car brought was much more welcoming than the 350z's community. So basically the verdict was, I would not buy the 350z because it was too common, the community isn't as tight and enthusiastic as the S2000. Later that month, I bought my 07 GPW at the Los Gatos Dealership and didn't look back since.
I had wanted and had been saving towards an STi. The prices on 05's weren't coming down to where I could afford one though. I had also test driven an IS300, Crossfire (didnt even really consider this car, just tested it because I was at Carmax and they didnt have the car I wanted to test. . .no point in driving 30 minutes and not testing something, haha), RX-8, and a 350z, in addition to the STi and in that lineup, the STi definately stood out and made firm in my mind that thats what I wanted.
Last November, we had an unseasonally warm day here in the Carolina's and I had seen a white S2000 sitting at the dealers lot for a while. Being a nice day, I figured I'd go and see if they'd let me drive it. That all but did it for me. Power is way down from the STi, but actually driving it was so much more fun. Then, a month later, the car was still sitting on the dealers lot and they knocked $2500 off the price from before, and thats when it really came into my head that yes, I could afford this car and be happy with it.
I've loved owning my little Honda ever since then.

almost bought a boxster in '99...
had a 911 and it was a great car, except for the maintenance costs-
while i was trying to figure out the options/ colors of the boxster i ran across info about the s2000.
i knew the reliability of hondas vs porsches and seemed like everyone around here has a porsche of some sort. no one had an s2000...
all around an easy decision- and looking back on it, a very right on one!

Considered 350Z,G35,WRX STI and BMW M3. Have always loved Hondas though. My 00 Civic SI which was my last car gave me love for VTEC though and I just had to have the Ultimate Honda besides the NSX which is technically not a Honda here. Plus if I ever get bored of the S i can always get a NSX
