I test drove a Miata, 350z, Boxster, RX-8, GTI, and a few others. I don't think the S2000 is "better" than any of these cars in every way, it was just the one I liked the best.

It's quick, it's a convertible, it's really fun to drive and it's a Honda so you know it'll run forever. It's also fun to auto-x if that's something you're considering.

Ever since they came out in 99, I've always loved how they looked and knew it was alot more powerful than what I had at the time. 92 prelude SI. At the time, I didnt really know too much truthfully either.
Skip to Jan. 2006, I started looking again and noticed that the priced had dropped to where I can afford one and started doing my research in great detail and time. I started test driving a Z4, 350Z, and Audi TT for the all-wheel drive in the snow. With those choices, I liked the Z4 most and then I went for a test drive in an S.......Decision made... Just took me another 6 months to save and get the exact one that met my standards.

I wanted a Japanese car with a RWD manual transmission, that was unique and rare, and had the reliability of a Honda or Toyota. the mr2 seemed weak and to girly for me and ive heard the the rotary engine for the FD rx-7 had to be rebuilt about every 70000 miles if driven hard....

so the s was the perfect choice.

I test drove every convertible I could find, from Chrysler Sebring to Porsche Boxster. I hated everything about the Sebring, no surprise there but I had to drive it just to say I tried. I hate Porsche's but the Boxster was on the top of the list, it was a really nice car with some nice lines and class to it unlike the S2000. I really wanted the retractable hardtop Miata but performance was just not to my liking. I love the Saturn Sky looks and hate the Pontiac Solstice but drove them anyway, hated the top contraption and performance was awful, I drove the turbo one but my wifes SUV could out corner it. I really like the looks of the Crossfire but again performance was just not there.

So it came down to Boxster and Lotus Elise and S2000. Wife and I rented a Elise for a few days and went up Hi. 1 to San Fran. Loved it, the performance I wanted and killer looks. But its not a convertible, yeah the top kind of comes off but its not a convertible. Honda dealer knew I was on the fence after renting the Elise for 3 days and also driving a friends Boxster for a day, he let me borrow a S2000 for a afternoon on Hi. 1.

Totally loved it. the performance I was looking for, I live for the curves not the straights and the top comes off. And the interior fits me, like my older Italian sports cars, it fits me...All the way back the only concern was "could I live with a bland looking car like the S?" my wife convinced me I could by saying "you can have this car and keep your Dino"...SOLD

Loving this car and especially loving the reliability compare to my other cars (although it is a 07, it better be reliable) I have 7,100 miles on it and 0 (yes ZERO) miles with the top up. I have owned 8 cars and driven somewhere around 400,000 miles in 34 years of driving, proud to say I probably have less then 20,000 miles with the top up Although on the S with all the electronics I most likely wont drive in the rain with the top down so my miles with the top up will be going up. Yes, I drove lots of cars before I got the S.

its the best bang for its buck i got for 17000 53000 miles, i mean the S is the total package. conv, awesome lights, 9kredline, smooth 6 speed, vtec, rwd, handling, performance. only thing is it needs more space good luck finding room to put stuff when you have a passenger. even getting fastfood with someone in the car can be a pain. also be careful drriving in the rain

I took my 06 LX civic in to the dealer for an oil change, and test drove an S2000 while I was waiting. Guess which one I drove home in? I gave them the civic and a check for $18,000 and haven't regretted one minute. This is my third Honda in the last four years. I guess I'm kind of impulsive. But I think I've found a keeper this time.

Had a 300rwhp 1991 MR2 Turbo and wanted something a bit more reliable but something that handled just as good. so i narrowed it down to 3 cars, 350Z, S2000 or Lotus Elise. I test drove the Z and it felt so heavy and bulky. The Elise was just as harsh a ride as my MR2 but without the trunk space and very difficult to get in and out of, It would have been prettydifficult to live with. Then i went to honda and test drove a New 2006 S2000 and i fell in love. GPW with red interior.
