Why did you chose an S

Yea, easy, community and rarity factor. I read somewhere they have sold something like over twice as many 350Zs as S2000s. They are a dime a dozen as they are offered with a slushbox and a range of trims.
350Z community sucks. I'd have to say 85% of the owners Ive met are asshats. The S2000 community is little different. Its seems more tight nit.
I used to be a "Z" guy - '89 Z31 turbo and '71 S30 turbo'ed. I still have the 240Z and like the Z community Pre-350 - but its just not for me anymore.

Be different, get a S2000!!!
My criteria:
1. Aggressive, curvy body design
2. Not boxy. I fscking hate boxy, no matter what's under the hood.
3. Manual transmission. I can't drive an automatic.
4. Rear-wheel drive
5. Two-door
6. Convertible
7. Over 100 hp/liter
8. 50/50 weight distribution
9. Not domestic.
I initially chose the S because most every other car out there looks like crap in my opinion.
I'm sick and tired of cars evolving more and more toward the shoebox shape.
The S2000 is aggressive and sexy, with dramatic curves and no hint of the 'new edge' design that is causing so many cars nowadays to sport sections that look like they dropped the clay prototype when they were designing.
It also helps that the S2000 is a fast, nimble car with a manual transmission and only two doors. I've never owned anything but manual transmission coupes and don't intend to change that.

Yeah, I hear ya on the Z community. I don't have either car yet, but I do frequent both the Z forum (My350z.com) and the S2k forum daily (although I do not post much). I have noticed that when I'm on the Z forum, I get bored easily. It seems like everybody is so serious and it just doesn't seem like a fun community to be part of. On the other hand, I come on S2ki and I can just sit here and read threads for hours. Everyone seems more friendly and helpful.
Meh, I still have to decide on the S or the Z. I'm slowly starting to favor the S.
Did anyone else have a hard time choosing between the S or the Z?

But in an S, you'll get a smile, a wave and maybe even a quick chat at the next stoplight. It's those small things that matter to me. Most people that drive S2000's are true driving enthusiasts hands down. I'm pretty sure more than 70% of the 350z/G35 drivers are not even people that bought it to enjoy the car. They bought it to show off that they drive a 350z/G35 and to just get around. That is the difference between us and them. Hope this helps your decision. (and torque isn't anything if you're going to understeer into every corner trying to catch up to an S
*cough* 350z *cough* )

I had a HORRIBLE time choosing between the S and the 350Z. I test drove both, and since I'm not a all out performance type of guy, the performance of the two vehicles didn't really matter to me. I bought the S because of the tighter community (when you're in a 350 and wave at another 350, 80% of the time, you wont get a wave back)

None-the-less, I agree. I drive the G35 when I need to go places. I go places in the S when I need to drive.
My choices at the time were...
Suzuka Blue S2000
Blue 350Z coupe
Gray Mitsubishi Evo 8
Laguna Seca Blue M Roadster
Obviously, I went with the s2k due to it's lightweight body and high-revving engine, while still remaining fuel-efficient and reliable, as all Hondas are. I test drove a G35 a few days ago; I must say, it felt like I was driving a Murano in comparison to the S2K.

Well I guess i picked it simply because it was a honda that I hadn't owned yet. I've gone from an accord to a civic then an integra a RSX a TSX A-spec and now to the S. I guess really the only thing left worth owning in the honda family is the NSX and I can't afford one of those so after my s I'll prolly go back to BMW. But I grew up with hondas acuras BMW's and Benz's all my life so it's what I know. My parents always had one or the other. I would have to say my fav tho was the TSX I would give my S up in a heartbeat to get that car back. It was a 6 spd to.
