Why do you drive an S2000?
cause i wanted a car that could do the following
1. set decent times on track days bone stock and drive home comfortable
2. be reasonably quick ( sorry miata)
3. not cost an arm and leg to own and maintain ( sorry M3)
4. reasonable gas mileage ( sorry wrx)
5. low weight, 48:52 weight distribution, over 8000 rpms (only a handful of cars have this unique blend of features and they all cost over $100k, go ahead google it, i can only think of 5, LFA being one)
enough reasons?
and yes my previous cars were an M3, miata and wrx

because the S is a monster in agility and the S doesn't mess around.
and you just want to go really slow sometimes and enjoy the highways.
then you wanna go fast and make the world yours.
because it is the most effecient sports car ever.
not a luxury wanna be car they try to make it sports. Infinity g35/37 sucks.

My paid off Ep3 was stolen, and an older ap1 was the only car I could afford that offered anywhere near the performance I desired.
After finding a clean oem ap1 for the right price, I bought it the next day. I don't regret it one bit.

I've noticed that a majority of the posts here are from owners who have had the car for less than a year. Wonder what's up with the oldies?
The S2K has become affordable to the 20 somethings now.
I'd take a stab at the mean age of many forum users... and viola.
As said 20 something, I got an S2K for that reason. I can finally afford it.
I wanted it because:
Sick looks
Honda reliability
4 Cyl engine
50/50 weight distro
rear LSD stock
RWD
240 ponies and 9,000 Red line.

In late 2007/early 2008 I began looking at and test driving some hybrids. I was driving an '06 Mazdaspeed6 at the time and just didn't trust the car as far as having long-term reliability, plus it just felt so big coming from an MX-5. Gas prices were high at the time, so I figured perhaps a Prius or Civic hybrid would better suit my needs, which were mostly commuting to and from work.
I test drove the Prius: boring as hell but I expected that. Test drove a Camry Hybrid: boring, but nicer than the Prius. Too damn expensive though. I then decided to go look at a Civic hybrid. It didn't take long for my eyes to wander.
I don't even remember if the dealer had any Civic hybrids in stock. Right when I walked on the lot I saw a row of 4 or 5 S2000s. Damn, they looked nice. I had kind of forgotten about the S, even though I remember really wanting one when they were first released. So, I decided to "just take a quick look". That quick look, basically sitting in the car, snapped my brain back into place. What had I been thinking? A boring hybrid? THIS was the car I wanted!
About a week later I drove away with a new '07. I've owned the S longer than my previous 3 cars and plan on keeping it a long, long time.
Cars I (and my wife) have had...
'77 Pontiac Firebird
'88 (or '89? It's been a while) 240SX
'96 MX-5
'99 Accord EX (Man, I hate FWD. Wife started driving)
'99 MX-5 (Ahhhh, back to RWD)
'98 Acura RL (wife)
'04 Mazda6 (Thought I'd try FWD again. Mistake)
'06 MX-5 - (Ahhhh, back to RWD)
'06 Mazda5 (wife)
'06 Mazdaspeed6 (Got a great deal. Never had an AWD or turbo. Should've just kept '06 MX-5. Then again, if I'd done that I probably wouldn't be in the S right now. So, blessing in disguise I guess)
