Why doesn't anyone manufacture the clear corner insert for our headlights??
If you do a search, I looked into this very extensively and even had some mock up clears made.
There were three pitfalls with this idea:
1). To do it properly, making durable molds for both right and left lenses was costing close to $40K. On plastic pieces that maybe 100 people would buy would not even cover the cost of the molds if they were sold at $200...which would in turn also limit the amount of prospective customers.
2). The mock ups that were made, using some resin and chemical additive that keeps plastic from curing with a haze, could not take high temeratures without the plastic sagging. I only imagine how hot the light housing gets with the headlights on.
3). At the time, there weren't too many people that were willing to take the time and energy to open up there own headlight housings without guaranteed results.
This definitely was not a new idea.

What needs to be done here... assuming that Honda does not have a distinct part number for this ( and i don't think they will ), is someone needs to locate the molder that is making the current parts. I would guess that some of our japanese friends might be able to help with this.
Then this manufacturer needs to be contacted about making a substitute for us.
Now... the caveat. Honda, or the supplier that makes the entire housings, owns the tools that they use to make these parts. They cannot use these molds for other customers without the owner's consent. In a perfect world, they would be contacted, and they would grant that consent (extremely, extremely unlikely due to liablity, and due to buyer's not having the authority) But what can sometimes be done is to ask the molder to make a variant on their worn out molds. They would take a mold that has reached it's lifecycle and say mill off the triangles or something so that it become totally distinct from the original part. Then they might be able to make a run of parts.
I base this solely on practices in the Aluminum industry where tooling charges are handled very much like it has been described here.
Finally, the other option is to find the OEM that makes these housings, and offer to buy these lenses from them. It is possible that they, and not honda own the rights to the lens. This can happen when they deliver the whole part assembly to Honda.
Worth a try. Lots of sleuthing required by an enthusiast in Japan... but if successful, there could be some profit to share as these lenses should only cost about 60 cents from the molder... if that.
Let me know.
