Why go FI?
The viper outclasses the s2000 in every aspect. What makes you think the viper has bad handling? It has a lot of power, and the people that can afford them often get tail happy and crash them because they take it beyond their limits (hmm... remind you of another car?).
To answer the original poster's question:
The reason people go FI with their s2000 is not because they have a 32000 dollar car and spend the 5 grand or so to FI it. It is because they USUALLY have a 16-25 thousand dollar used car and want to FI it. How many brand new cars do you see with FI vs. used?
Think about it some more. The Vette is not the only 50 thousand dollar car worth getting. I like the Vette, but there is a LOT more things I would rather do with that much money than pay for one, such as... buying a used one. New cars are bad investments, everyone knows that.

Sometimes it's just fun to see what a 4 cylinder Honda can do.
Also insurance for me on the S is a lot cheaper than if I were behind a Vette.
"No Matter what you get or do , there will always be someone with something better"
So just enjoy what you can.

There's also timing to consider. When I bought my S (in 2000 for $AUD75K) it was the absolute limit of what I could afford. Three years later I had some spare money and no desire to buy another car so I SC'd it. Then a year and a half later I sold the SC and bought a turbo for few extra Ks.
Not only do I have a car I simply adore, but I have the pleasure of knowing I worked on it and maintained it through the last 5 years.

I like my S as much as the next guy. But I will never understand the justification behind FI. The cost/benefit equation just does not make sense; the S is $32K or so new, the Vette is about $45K. What is the point of making the S fast, when you can just BUY a faster car to begin with? I understand that the S offers a unique driving experience (so does the Vette, BTW), but still... I would pick the Vette if I wanted "FI power": it offers better and easier resale than a FI S, and the maintenance of a NA Vette is easier than of a FI S. Any thoughts on this?
Just buy a vette and be happy. If the supercharger is still a must have once you get a vette. Then you spend the same amount of money as the S for a blower except with different results. Just ask Mr. Pink.
