Why is Honda Afraid?
Is anyone else just sick and tired of nastinupe1's constant bitching and whining or is it just me?
I'd love to sit around all day and search other peoples previous post and threads but unfortunately I have a life.
Sure you do.

Did anyone read last months EVO mag where the new NSX Type R won Car of the year. It was compared to monster cars from Ferrari and Mercedes making 500Hp and more. They even compared the NSX to last years winner the Zonda and concluded that the NSX had more "EVOness". All from a comparitively small V6 engine that makes "only" 290P. If and when the S gets upgraded don't expect too much more horsepower...in eleven years the NSX only gained 20HP. Sure they dont sell like hotcakes but people who buy an NSX and an S are kinda different from the rest of the car buying public - call it tech snobbery - but I rather be proud of a wise purchase based on good/innovative/efficient technology in stead of buying on pedigree or sheer HP numbers or O-60 times. Here is a quote from Automobile 9/02 when the new Accord came out.
"Charlie Baker is a personable Honda executive engineer who led the Accord program. Baker an American, has spent the last two years on assignment to Honda's R&D company in Tochigi, Japan. 'I've heard it said in Japan. 'Nissan are the city slickers. Toyota are the country cousins. And Honda are the single-minded, kind of weird motorcycle mechanic guys'....Enthusiasts gravitate toward engineering-driven concerns, and in this respect, Honda is one of the greats."
So if you are not into innovative engineering that improves the state of the art of automaking....you are with the wrong car company and definitely in the wrong car....no offense

My first sports car was an VW Scirocco. I thought it was fast and with the glass pack exhaust it sounded great. Looking through some old boxes ( we had moved a few mopnths ago ) and I found the original sales lit from VW. I was astounded at what the numbers were for the 1.6 liter engine. 76 hp at 5500rpm and 84 ft lbs at 3500 rpm with a 4 speed transmission. Sure that was nearly 30 years ago, but it still seemed like a fast car back then, and I had the speeding tickets to prove it. The car got about 28mpg.
Fast forward to the present. My S has been consistantly giving me over 30 mpg and could run with the VW with 3 sparkplugs missing.
Honda has just come out with the 600 RR sport bike. It puts out over 115 hp out of just 600ccs and tops out at about 165. Could a 1.8 liter four with say 345hp out of line with what Honda is capable of producing ?

FWIW, I was just watching "Fine Living" and they featured the Z3 and Z4. The Z4 w/ the 3.0L puts out 225 hp. Last time I checked(never, just guessing) the sticker on a Z4 was a bit more than our Honda.
Hmmmm, more $$$, less hp... so to those who think the S2000 doesn't offer much, there ya go. And I almost forgot, there are far fewer "attitudes" within the S owners' circles.
