Why I Love My S2000..
Have you ever had one of those days where all you want to do is just get in your car and push that little red button and forget about things for a while..?
Yesterday was one of those days for me..
...and here is why I love my S2K.
Do I wish it had a little more power? Sometimes I wish it was faster than some other cars, but really, 240 HP is plenty for me.
Is it the best looking car on the road? Most of the time. It still doesnt look dated and I still love getting to look at it every day. Which is all that matters to me.
Do I wish it had more room? Of course I do. But if that was a priority, I would have just bought a coupe of a 4 seat convertable.
Is owning it impractical? Yes and no. I live in Ohio, I need a winter car, so why not NEED a summer car too? If I buying something, I might as well get something I love and that does what I want it to do? No top and it makes all the right noises I like to hear. Thats what I need to survive a summer.
Do I mind paying a little more for aftermarket parts? Not at all, because I havent had to spend any money on fixing things that have broken. Reliability is something other OEM's need to learn about from Honda. So spending more on quality add on pieces is totally worth it.
Do I wish S2K's had more driver conviences? Sometimes I wish I had Bluetooth, heated seats or dual climate cooling zones, but I am glad that I dont, because that means that $30k+ we paid to buy the car, went into building the car and producing the best drivers car ever made, and not selling us bells and whistles.
It wouldnt matter if I had bluetooth anyhow, no one would be able to hear me with the top down and the exhaust roaring.
Will I ever want to sell my S2K? At some point I probably will. Thats why I need to enjoy it now. Why save the miles for the next guy?
Sorry for the rant.. but I do my best thinking when I am driving. And driving is all I can think about.

I can remember as a kid when they came out always Saying I was going to get one. Im 23 now and I've had it for 2 months and everytime I drive it I get extremely happy and think why didn't I get one sooner...the trip from Indio ca to san Francisco for the mega meet thrue the pch made me fall even more in love with the car...hopefully in a couple years I can buy another one and have one for looks and one purpose built track or something like that lol or just to have two .....I didn't choose the s2k life..the s2k life chose me
Sunday morning, I jumped in the car to take coffee & breakfast to my fiancee at her job. I left the top up for the 5 mile trip and was reminded how cramped, noisy, and blind the car is when closed up. After delivering breakfast, I put the top down and cruised to church, powering through the curves around a lake, and thinking what a different car it is with the top down.
I'm with you, S2Knlt. I've been talking about this car to anyone and everyone since 1999 and finally bought one two years ago. It was my dream car. Every time the engine roars to life, I remember telling family members, friends, and lovers that I was going to own this car one day. Makes owning one all the more special.
I was a tech back in 99 and was the first to do a PDI on the S2000s to our dealership. Back then I was young and never dreamed of being able to have one.
Almost 10 years later I picked one up with the last $1000 I had as a down payment. I had just come down from a high in my life. My venture into owning my own business failed after the great financial collapse. My girlfriend decided that greener pastures were elsewhere for her. My life was just in shambles. I was so in debt I had decided to go out with a bang and at least go out with the car I've wanted from the beginning. With my last $1000 I put a down payment on a Silverstone and haven't looked back since. Life eventually got better. New girl, new life, new home.
Life has it's battles, especially between the hours of 8am and 5pm. But usually around 5:05-5:15 when I step on the clutch and push the red button, life is good enough again.

Hello, I am a 1 month owner of my '03 and i could not be any happier. Just got to drive from Philly to Arizona along route 66. I can tell you there is no better feeling than having the top down cruising on the mother road of america. Attached is a picture at one of the few remaining relics left on Route 66
