is it the JR/rotrex kit? they said on the thread that a catback won't affect the tune, and that a test pipe only gained 2whp.

wrong. The primary O2 sensor is located before the cat. The secondary O2 sensor located between the catalysts in the converter is there only for monitoring the functionality of the cat itself. All fuel trim control sequences in the OEM ECU and aftermarket ecu's look to the primary O2 sensor only.

I just got it done yesterday and dayam! What a difference. It's surprisingly loud at times, like when driving around in a parking lot looking for parking and when engine braking. I stood behind the car while it was warming up this morning and it was definitely louder than stock. The sound of my car comes from both ends now almost equally until 6k. I have a header and resonator removed and the sound is awesome. In vtec, the sound of the engine is a bit more than the sound of the exhaust.

I love it and it is almost perfect for now. Until i get that itch for an aftermarket catback which i will definitely scratch one day. But for 40.00 i am impressed with how far that went in terms of sound.

This is really a sound mod. NO performance gain at all. I'm glad I did this instead of going with an exhaust. Exhaust system would be too loud and no way in hell will my gf allow me to install. Plus with AP2 I don't want to install single anyways so gain is minimal. So I got everything I wanted: a noticeably louder aggressive sound (very noticeable when you press that engine start button ), saved extra 1k to spend on something else maybe .

As for the sound, there might be a bit of difference between AP1 and AP2. Size of the pipe welded in (most people went for 2.25, I was recommended 2.5), and quality of weld job. I read in another thread thoroughly before doing this so I know the welding job needs to be very perfect. I emphasized this part and the mechanic spent an hour carefully welding while I was watching lol. All turned out great.

I don't know if I should do the muffler part too

How much did they charge for a "perfect job" that took an hour?!

$50. Could be cheaper in US.
