Wind noise on the freeway.
This is my first post, just bought my first S2K =D its an 01'
Im going to be removing the soft top for a hardtop, but in the mean time i was curious if there was anything i can do to quiet down the wind noise where the top meets the window. I think its just due to the age of the top. and if theres anything i should know about, the car currently has 100k miles.
thanks in advance!

I can hear my stereo fine at highway speeds (01, with greddy Ti-C single) that said I have to turn it up a bit.
as for wind noise, try this, it works for me:
1) Put the top up and latch it [WARNING]
(leave windows down)
2) next, without unlatching, pull the switch to the lower position just for a second. [CAUTION]
(You will notice that the top pulls tighter along the top of the windshield frame. This significantly lowers highway noise.)
CAUTION: DO NOT HOLD THE SWITCH IN THE LOWER POSITION LONGER THAN NECISSARY TO PULL THE TOP TIGHT. DOING SO WILL PUT UNDUE STRAIN ON THE MOTORS AND MECHANISM
WARNING: MAKE SURE BOTH SIDES ARE LATCHED. HAVING ONLY ONE SIDE LATCHED WILL TWIST THE TOP FRAME.

Even though I have a convertible, I bought two new hardtop strikers from hardtopguy.com ($55 for the pair) and it made all the difference; car is much much quieter especially at high speed. The strikers, incidentally, are the indented pieces where the latches go in when you snap them shut, and the new ones provide a much tighter seal.

I used car quiet to drop the cabin noise down nearly 10db. This was a huge improvement to the ride quality of the car. Most of the 'noise' you're experiencing has little to do with soft top and most of it from motor/tranny/road/tires, which is coming through the body.
Hard top can fix 'some' of the wind noise but you'll get bounce back of the road noise.

) but i plan on buying new latches for the top, they had some severe wear on them i would say a good .030 was worn off.
