Default Winter Journey

Hi Folks,

I am planning to pick up my new 06 Berlina in Kansas and making the trek up to Canada, AB . Before starting the journey I need to have a set of aggressive ice/snow tires mounted on. I've done a lot of searching on the forums about buying an old set of ap1 rims and slapping winters on them, but I am running into abit of a time constraint and would like to have the option of buying another set of rims for the summer, and using the ap2 rims for the winter.

Having said that, I've narrowed it down to two models the Bridgestone WS-50's and the Graspic DS-2's (less expensive), my question is what is the correct tire sizing for the ap2 rims. I found a thread where xviper is explaining that 205's on the front and 225/235's on the back would be appropriate, but not sure what profile would be best, according to tirerack's website the DS-2's and WS-50's that seem to fit come in 215/(45,50,55)/17 for the fronts, and 225/(50,55)/17 for the rears...could I go with the larger profile for less cost and more of cushiony ride, or will I have issues with rubbing?...not really sure I am pretty new at this.

Also, I'd appreciate any thoughts or opinions on the DS-2's vs. WS-50's.

Btw, anyone know what rims these are? (size, model)...

I know its a lot to ask considering its my 2nd post, but I need to make a decision fairly quick so I can have the tires shipped to the dealer, and have them mounted before I get there.

Thanks in advance...

Call tirerack.com and they should be able to help. You may want to -1 size your winter tires to keep from "floating" on snow.

Bridgestone Blizzaks are the best you can get for winter (not studded).
