Most theives won't bother looking for the seat lock sticker.

The best deterrence is a good 2 way alarm system and seats locks. And unfortunately the best prevention is a garage.
I dont understand how and why some owners buy a S without first having a garage to put the S in at night. This is not the type of car you want sitting outside at night! Its just welcoming thieves.
When i read stories like this,I thank god im renting a garage.
Sorry to hear about your loss. I also didnt think the blue seats were popular with thieves.

I'm sure there is some idiot with a civic driving arround with my blue seats in the front and some crap cloth seats in the back. Hopefully the cop will ask some serious questions when they find them...

There are two other S's in my neighborhood (sp?) although they are both silver. I guess someone really wanted blue seats.

I believe it was someone nearby that called in a crew. The car had only been at my house for 4 days!!! I lent it to my dad for his expodition (I needed the truck to carry materials) while I was moving and fixing up my NEW house. Time to look arround for some punk kids possibly driving arround with blue seats!

Not very easy to afford a house with a nice garage and a new car here in Hollywood. Most garages barely fit a single car...The other houses are out of my range right now in my life (talking about close to 500k). It is just a matter of beafing up the lighting and possible CCTV systems.

I agree, just because you don't have access to a storage facility dosen't mean you shouldn't have nice toys. It shouldn't be too long until someone breaks into a garage to get @ an S. Then no one will be safe.

FYI...I placed a business card in the 'cavity' between the seat back and leather insert ($905.60 & 179.43 from diagram above). Only helps if you 'find' the seats on Ebay or a street corner for ID/ownership purposes.

A friend of mine had his car stolen. He had dropped cards into the doors. A reputable bodyshop received in his doors, found the card when they broke it down for paint, called him and they tracked it back to the thieves.

One in a million story but can't hurt.

The business card story is great. Why don't we as a group come up with a place to label our seats? For example, the back of the headrest snaps off. Why not start putting phone numbers on the inside there with a Sharpie?

Granted, it's not going to stop people from stealing them. However, it could potentially make them more difficult to sell. It could also let law enforcement know a way to check quickly if the seats are stolen.

I am thankful I have a garage!

I am new on this forum. But I recommend for everyone who has seat locks to make your own sign. Go to microsoft word and type a warning notice "THIS CAR HAS SEAT LOCKS" or similar. Then, place it in your window every time you park your vehicle. That should be even more visible than sticker...

the stickers are cool but since i never park with the top up, they would never be seen because the window is down.
