Who is buying these seats? I would think there would be so little market it wouldn't be worth the considerable effort compared to stealing other things. Are they being used just in S2000s?

Unfortunately the bastards would still slash your top before discovering the seatlocks. With any luck they'd leave it at that and not get pissed and vandalize the car. Everytime I read one of these stories I thank God I can keep my S in my garage.

By the way, until now I have seen in the US that stealing seats happens all the time! How come and this is happening?
Here we dont have such incidents! Well... actually here they steal either the car stereo or the whole car.

It's possible and hopefully they would not vandalize it just for the heck of it. We can drive the car with a slashed top...can't drive it with no seats.
To have a top replaced or repaired it is much cheaper. Even if they slash the seats, at least you only have to recover them and you can still drive it.
Get locks and stickers!

The soft top is $1214 MSRP ($896.00 on-line)
Bottom seat cover is $1067.78 MSRP ($788.02 on-line)
Seat back cover is $905.68 MSRP ($668.39 on-line)
You can have $3000 worth of damage if the hoodlum slashes the top to get in, notices the seat locks and takes it out on the driver's seat. If he goes after the other seat, now it's $5000. If he goes after the dash and other stuff, add more $$$ and that's only for the parts. These numbers don't even include labor and other misc parts.
So what would I rather have? I'd rather have the seat locks and the bastard carve up the interior. It's cost me (and my insurance) the same, but the satisfaction will be mine because the thief will have nothing to show for his efforts.
I also would not mind an all-new interior.

Since no one did this before (that I know of) here's a price breakdown for seat parts I cooked up. These prices are RETAIL, for Graphite Black leather (other colors vary in price). Multiply everything by two for a pair of seats:
