Guys, if your wives are happy to be ferrying your kids around in a beater while you are driving a newish S2000, more power to you. Those of you who are not married and are planning a scenario like that, let me suggest that you are dreaming in Technicolor.

Wife's car doesn't have to be a beater...just more practical than an S. But if wife gets a beater, you don't get an S.

I think it is great that there are so many porsche fans. I think they are the best all around sports car. (Not counting boxter, good car but why sell the S for it?) If anything the S has prepped us for the next move in the car game. Knowing you already drive something great, and knowing that you will not settle for less Is a great thing. Sure some of us might own a car that out performes the S, but it is still a fine car in my book.

I'm very happy with my S2K, and don't see trading it in or selling it for a good long while. As everyone said, it's not the fastest... but a supercharger would provide all the performance I would need, and it's a much cheaper option than buying a Cayman S, which is about the only other car that I really want under $60K. The looks of the S2K never get old to me, you've got the drop top, the Honda reliability, and I just got 26.5mpg with my last tank.

Maybe if/when Honda puts a variation of their new turbo engine into a sports car, I'll think about trading. Til then though, I'm content.

I wouldn't want my wife and kids in a $5k beater.
I also wouldn't let go my s2k.

What I would do is pick up a new kia or hyundai for ~$15k with a 10 year warranty. wife and kids get a new, safe and reliable car which is fairly good looking for the price and the family has a nice sexy roadster that the wife would enjoy going to dinner with while the grandparents look after the kids on the weekends.

Everything can be dealt with by planning and compromise.

Not true. Buy a 4 door Si when it comes out in 2007. The Si has the same DNA as the S2000 only it hasn't grown up yet. It's the boy racer of the family.

You get to have as much fun for a little money. I own both, an 02 S2000 and an 06 Si, and they are the two best cars I've ever owned, and I've owned a lot of cars.

As much as I would want an M3, I'd probably do something like this. I'd might even buy a hybrid or EX model.

Or hrmmm.... Factory Turbo Civic? C'mon Honda!

When you get in your mid to late 30's like me and have kids a 4-door is a must. I love my 740i sport - for a big car it's awesome - staggered rims, lowered suspension, and lower gears. If you need a 4-door and something fun to drive look at BMW. Until Honda comes out with a "true" 4-door sports car I'll stick with my bimmer.

My wife drives a 2005 Civic EX auto. Last weekend we took it to Virginia Beach to visit relatives. Going we got 40.08 miles per gallon. On the return trip we only got 37.95 miles per gallon because of the traffic on the Jersey turnpike. An average of 39.015 miles per gallon over the course of approximately 780 miles.

No need to buy anything else. An EX if you want a great reliable car with great gas milage, an Si if you want a great reliable car to have some fun with.
