i traded my S for an M3...i could of driven the S for longer, but I had different reasons rather than torque, hp and bling factor...I wanted a car that had backseats and a trunk since i moved out of home and need a car to actually go grocery shopping in...i think the s is a great car, but I sure miss not having payments...2 different cars...M3 is more practical in terms of space...I just couldnt trade it in for a 3 series, I knew to give up the S, it would have to be something that I truly felt was on par or an upgrade in terms of performance, handling and finish...

That's stupid, any E46 M3 is going to be worth more than an equal year/condition/miles S2000.

There was no M3 in 00, the 333hp E46 M3 started in 01.

I agree that it will be worth $$, but "worth" to someone might be more then just a $....if you know what i mean.

i have 3 cars (S2K, Truck, Lexus GX470). if i could only have one car then i would get new E46 M3 in white (if i could find one).

Whether or not the M3 is worth 50k opposed to 32k, some people bond to their cars and wouldn't trade up no matter what. I'm defineltly one of those proud s2000 owners. On the other hand, I might drive to a BMW dealership in my S, and take the M3 for a rip..

Yeah, I completely understand personal value vs market price. I agree the S is a fun car and in the market worth every penny of the 32K price. Hell there was nothing that even came close in agility till the Elise came along (although I still think the E30 and E36 M3 has more steering feedback having driven all 3)

I had a 92 Sentra SE-R 5spd with LSD that I bought for 3 grand, it probably wasn't even worth what I paid monitarily but there is no car that's more fun for the price (unless you can find a really beat miata).

I think EVERYONE is missing the point here...the question is "if you would trade an S2000 for an M3 if they were equally in mileage, year....the answer is simple...unless you are making $ 15,000 an hour, you probably would. You could do the trade and immediately go and shop for another S2000 and pocket the money. Do the trade 2 or 3 times and you would have enought to buy you a brand new S2000....period.

and I am sure you had to put a little extra money there to make it happen...you would have still done it if it were an even trade...right?

Angel...
It's okay...
as it should have been, the thread is more comparison then trade for trade.

of course I'd do it if it was an even trade. The M3 is worth 2x as the S2000
