Would anyone Trade "S" for an M3?
Well I had my E46 M3 before I bought my 01 Spa S2k and I gotta tell you for daily driving as long as you don't need the trunk space, kids, etc the S2000 can't be beat.
Of course practicality says if you can only afford one car, the M3 is a no brainer provided it's in your price range. The s2000 is a pure sports car and higher on insurance too.
I sold my s2000, but just bought another new 05 cuz I missed it so much - this is the ONLY car I have ever bought twice.
Was getting sick of drivin my SUV to work on days I didn't want to ride or raining and eventually I missed the fun of a topless s2000 and had to have another one. Seeing other s2k owners driving around didn't help either...haha

c'mon, Hockey. i've met you before and you weren't nearly that cold. why am i wrong?
I just don't like getting pigeon holed like that.
Yes there is some "status" associated with the BMW logo and even more so among car guys with the "M" badge.......I do not choose my vehicles according to how some gold-digging chick might dig it.
I've driven an E46 M and liked it alot (thanks Arnee
I had plenty of smiles on my face when I drove it, even though I only had a sunroof to look up thru. But I admit it might be a different story on some twisties.
Either way I'm not getting rid of my S. Just speaking hypothetically.
No worries dude

sorry for pigeon holing. but after reading your explanation, i still dont get why you would trade. when people say fit and finish were better, i feel like it's deceiving. any new car, especially shiny german ones look great when their brand new. but according to experience, consumer reports, etc, german stuff rates quite poorly. maybe not porsche. so i dont agree with better fit and finish for the long haul. albeit, if you could only have one car and needed to carry children, animals, some costo stuff, the m3 would be the one.
I sold an E46 (NON-M) for my S, and I think the S is an awesome car that puts my old 3 to shame, BUT the fit, finish, and overall build quality IMO is better on the BMW. I can care less about status or whatever that people connect with the BMW (shown by how I sold a BMW for my Honda), but the build quality is awesome on those cars.

Exactly what I'd do!
