Would you want "syncrorev" in the S?

From best to worst (in relation to sporty/sports cars)

Manual
Sycro-cheat
Sequential Manual/DSG
Auto with Paddles
Regular auto
Chauffers

Now, that said, I would not refuse to buy a car on the basis of it having sycro-rev, so long as I could switch it off.

Now I also dont see anything wrong with a sequential on a full race car if it is put there for performance reasons. but a road going Sports car is about the fun and driving experience more than anything.

I think it's neat from a technical standpoint. But I wouldn't want it, or pay extra for that feature. If it was a standard option and I can turn it off - then whatever. I think it's a feaure that makes "sport driving" more accessible to people who want a sporty car but don't exactly want to fuss with all the "purity" of heel-toe. It's like Paddle shifters, the technology is getting so good that's it's performance exceeds Manual shifting but the enthusiasts will always dislike them.

If' you've never driven a Z with S mode on it's like a normal MT, but when you shift down it blips the throttle/rev-matches perfectly. It does it right when the clutch is re-engaged (clutch pedal released). So no matter how slowly or quickly you release the pedal it rev matches seamlessly. They're idiot proofing three pedal work.

there's only one thing that it's worse than "synchro-revs"... and it's called "automatic transmission"..

oh wait.. there's something even worse.. "chauffeurs"
if you got "chauffered" around the Nurbergring in a ringtaxi M5, I doubt you'd be saying that

No.

Yeah, it's faster and more effective, but it takes away the originality of a standard gearbox. Might as well drive an automatic.

I don't really care if I don't rev-match perfectly every time. I'd rather do it myself just because it's fun to do. I wouldn't want something that automatically steers the car for me either because I like steering it myself. It's a fun car to drive, I wouldn't want anything taken away from the experience.

I've never driven a 370z but I'd love to try it out one day. My ergonomics makes it extremely hard for me to heel and toe in the S. I still revmatch on downshifts though.

The S seemed like one of the last cars that didn't have all these electronic helpers, besides the VSA in later AP2s. That's one of the reasons I think it will be hard for me to find a replacement. Oh well, S2K for life!

Nope.

The 370z can keep that one for all I care. And anyone who's swayed over to that camp due to that feature would be happier with that car over the S anyway.

[edit]- I can't drive ANY manual transmission without rev matching. It's just engrained in my head as part of the downshift procedure

One more thing to go wrong as the car ages.
