Maybe it is the detergent in So. Cal MTBE or crap like that. The best I have done is 260 on 10.36Gallons of gas. That was nearly all highway. But, you can say that I have a bit of a lead foot at times. Guess I will try a more calm approach to driving.

Happy driving

Did you know that all "76" gas stations in California are MTBE free now?

I get almost 300 if its just freeway, 225-250 for city.

I have tried "stretching" out a tank by driving like a grandma, and found little to no significant difference in fuel economy. I know I should have gotten alot more distance out of it, as I did not go into VTEC for that experiment.

I typically drive aggressively with a short commute. It is difficult to putt around in this car when you know what it can do, especially when it doesn't benefit you that much (if at all). So, I have gone back to "gassing" it and enjoying every minute of it.

I couldn't get very high either until I installed my comptech intake. Oh just pop it to neutral before you stop. Try not to stop wait for the next light so you can just doing a rolling start. I use Mobile One

I'm still under 6,000 miles w/ a totally stock car. My mileage is pretty much in one of three ranges:

21-22MPG - daily 22 mile r/t surface street commute.
24-25MPG - canyon runs
28+MPG - freeway/highway driving

The commutes are pretty tame, and I tend to putt around with traffic. I nearly always pop the car into neutral when approaching a stop, and keep the car in 5th when running at 40+ MPH on surface streets.

Surprisingly, the car does much better when in 2nd-3rd gear around 4,000+ RPMS when running through the canyons.

I guess the engine just likes to be driven hard.

I drive top-down every chance I get and the best I've done is about 210 a tank. What I woulnd't do to get closer to 300 a tank. Reveal your tricks, ahhaha...

I was shocked to see that I got 345 miles out of one of my tanks on my trip from Houston to Atlanta last week. When I pulled over to get gas the last bar had just run off the screen and the odometer read 345. I thought there was no way that could be right but that specific tank was spent at 65-75mph crusing through the backroads of Northern Mississippi and Birmingham. Usually I'm doing between 80-100 on the freeway in Houston but was trying to avoid the pesky super troopers during the drive over. I'm going to see if I can match that on the way back in a few more weeks.

Right before the trip I switched oil from Castrol to Valvoline 10W-30 and installed the Hondata gasket and Mugen temp. mods below; however, I can't see how they would have had that big of an effect. I typically get between 230-280 a tank.

My secret, bone stock, dirty air filter (sorry car, replacing soon ), top down 95% of the time, then........................

Engage clutch and 1st gear - press gas pedal into the floorboard - lift - shift - repeat!!!!

side note...anyone recommend an aftermarket air cleaner (remember I'm still stock, until I get the AEM V2! that is)

Thanx,
Hockey

Just took a new reading today. I got 24.3152128107 MPG, city. This is the second reading in a row with close to the same numbers. 28 is pretty decent for combined driving. Have fun!

Best I've gotten is 33mpg, that was all highways (which is mainly what I drive) at a pretty constant 70-80mph. I typically get about 30mpg when I drive up to my parents in NY though.
