Subject says it all. Last night it was raining, cold (5 degress centigrade). I just changed gears from 1st to 2nd and my rears were just on a zebracrossing (that's white paint on the road) which is very slippery when wet. The rear broke out, I took a lamppost down and with the front jumped into a fence. Don't wether it's totalled yes or no, I'll here that in a couple of days.

I already made clear to myself before that I wanted wintertyres next winterseason, wish I had done it earlier. These tyres in the wet and cold are very slippery. Of course I already knew this, so I'm a bit baffled that it still happened to me. Please be warned about these kind of situations.

We escaped alright, this is a strong car. Luckily I have a good insurance, so I hope to receive a new one.

Ronald

Ronald,

I'm really sorry to here that you've damaged your baby. I'm picking my car up next week and am getting quite worried about it's wet/cold "twitchiness". I think I might get myself something banged out to drive in bad weather.

I hope the insurance company are kind to you.

Best,

Ronald,
This is a great shame for you. Hopefully both yourself and your passenger will feel no ill effects. We all experience at least one of these frightening moments with the car - Sometimes we are lucky sometimes we get bitten. Thanks for the reminder,

Kind Regards,
Simon.

Ronald, you have my sympathy!

I know about the dangers of rain and painted lines on the road, you get reminded very quickly on the bike if you forget. Same goes for the steel lids over sewers and such. Connect this with the poor grip in cold temperatures and it gets really scary at times. Riding the bike is a real eye-opener to various dangers on the road and i think this awareness has saved me and my car a couple of times too.

I hope you get your car back in tip-top shape soon.

Oh gosh, Ronald, how sad. Thanks for posting.

5 deg C = 41 deg F for those metrically impaired. It is pretty amazing that you lost grip so badly on a straight road, even with the zebra lines.

How many km on your tires?

If I were you, I'd imitate Bassman, and get Bridgestone Blizzak MZ-O1s when you get your S2000 repaired or replaced.

Hi Guys,

we have the strangest wheather. On monday we had 23 degrees centigrade, last night 5 degrees. It changes from day to day a lot this time of year. I had 7000km (4300 miles) on these tyres. I checked the tyres and they had more than enough thread. I'll definately put wintertyres on (depending how long it takes to get a new car or till my car is fixed).
