Default Wrinkles in Convertable Top

Sometimes I just put the top UP without locking it down with the hooks. When I do this, the top tends keep the wrinkles it gets from being compacted while in the down position. If I use the hooks and lock the top when it is UP, it stretches out enough so that the wrinkles go away.

The wrinkles apear on the sides of the convertable top.

The wrinkles I'm thinking MIGHT be a result of the climate being so dry here in Arizona. Perhaps the moisture from humidity would inhibit the wrinkles form forming in the first place.

Is everyone getting wrikles in their top?

Yes, all the time. What happens is the material is made to "flex" so when you put the top up and lock it, this strecthes the material. I had this problem on my Eclipse spyder. For new top owners who have had their tops replaced somestime it will sink in a little--this means the top has been cut too long or I should say too much material left over and not installed tight. If you have this problem go to the dealer but for wrinkles put the top up they will go away.

Not sure I understand why you would "sometimes just put the top up without locking it down"...you mean if you park it for a short time in the sun or something?

I have wrinkles on both sides of the top and in the bottom corners of the window. Is this abnormal, and if so, would a replacement be covered under warranty??

I see the same thing when I leave my top down for an extended period of time, and then close it. There are wrinkles on each side of the top. They go away after having the top up for a while. I would imagine this is normal since the top was folded.

i am guessing that there is a difference in the softtop material between AP1 and AP2 because in my case i am the second owner, the first put a hardtop from day one and never took it off.I just recently remove it to enjoy the FL weather, which makes about 3 years total after purchase new and NO wrinkles whatsoever, none.I was a little conserned about how it would look but now i am relieved...
