^miss the wrx more than you think you'd miss the s2000? I get such different opinions on here compared to the subaru forum which is expected but I would have thought for sure there was someone that would say the wrx def does this better than the s2000 and I mean something performance wise other than getting off the line. Did most of you guys that previously owned a wrx have a lot of mods done to it or was it mostly stock? I will say bone stock a wrx is pretty unimpressive especially compared to a s2000 but it doesn't take much to bring a good amount of the car.
I don't miss my S2000 cause I still have it . I do however miss my WRX more than any of my previous cars...and it would without a doubt (like I said) destroy an RSX in every way.

Hopefully I will get to drive an s2000 this weekend and finally be able to create some kind of opinion of my own. I've heard the s2000 has a great gearbox. That is one thing the wrx definately does not have. To the above comment though it takes a lot of driving and practice to drive the 5spd smooth. Its just a sloppy gearbox in general. My 6spd is another story though. It definitely feels so much better although I could still use a short shifter. I think that would make it feel the best. I'd also have to disagree on saying the wrx feels like you are throwing around a pig. Maybe on completely stock suspension. All I have on mine are tein springs and the replica sti strut bars and it is much better in comparison to how little I spent. I mostly want a car that is quick in the twisties and also has great response which I think I actually made worse going with the new turbo for my car. In a way the upgraded turbo almost made the car a little less enjoyable to drive. Its def much faster but I don't know if it was really worth all that I spent to do it. I kinda wish I would have done all the suspension stuff like I was originally looking to do and kept the great repsonse of the stock turbo. I do think I still have a preturbo leaking which would definately be part of my response issue and I'm hoping that with that fixed I'll get that response back and I might look into gettign a retune first. When it was tuned I just let him do his thing and I didn't even think to say tune it to have a useable powerband and don't worry about making the highest numbers. I think that was some of my fault and why I haven't been enjoying it as much as I feel like I should. At the same time I just don't know that going to a bigger turbo was what I really wanted to do and I've been having second thoughts about it.
I guess in a sense I'm ready to move beyond that trying to have the fastest car out there stage and I just want something really fun to drive everyday.

I have both as well, an 01 Supercharged S and 07 WRX that I just recently bought as a daily driver. The cars are so diffrent that its very hard to compare them. I love the S, but I would get really sick of it as a daily driver, the WRX with it low end torque and awd make it a great daily driver, but when pushed doesn't even come close to the S. I have to agree though that the 5 speed is crap, I thought it was just me at first, but its like a jeep transmission with tons of slop.

If I were to only have one car though, it would probably be an STI or EVO as a compromise. But I love driving the S too much that why I have two cars

Go test drive one, your trying to compare your modded wrx to a stock s2000, best person to make this judgement is going to be you.

I look forward to hearing how the test drive went

Went from an my02 bugeye to an my06 S. I love it, no comparison. Hands down the S is a much better car. Of course the S costs 10G's more, so I would expect it to be better.

Had 3 S2000s, now have 06 STI, 97 C4S, and still miss the S2000. the STI is a great car - though front heavy and it pushes, it is fun to drive, secure, and good in all weather (with the right rubber). And it ha a back seat for kids. My kids like the wing, I don't. Whatever.

The S2000 is impractical, but fine for a DD if yu are not a load like me. even then, I used it as my DD. Had extra wheels and winter rubber, drove it in all weather. They ar great cars.

Frankly, thinking about sellig the 97 C4s, getting a used S2000, and maybe a fit or prius to replace the STI. Feeling guilty about my contibution to global warming and Bush's oil war.

In short, the S is a great car. You can't go wrong with it, as long as you understand its limitations. And it is fun in AX, too.
