Between WRX and S2k, you have to just go with what you like better.

They're very different and meant for different things. Both of course for racing.

You have to narrow down the factors according to your lifestyle, because all these little factors are screwing you over. I have a Saab, the most random car for a 17 year-old (now I'm 18). Did I want a Saab? uh no. You don't even want to know my reactions when I see an S2000.

If you simply have a gut feeling that you like one car more than the other, than choose the car you like more. Choose the car that has the slightest more interest.

Another thing, do ANYTHING you can in order to get the car you really want, because you'll truly regret it.

Actually by that time, the US spec R35 GTR should be here for around 50K. I just hope that I'll be making enough money by then. In either case the S2K or the WRX will get traded in/sold.

Ahh, the Skyline. True. Different price bracket though...! Hope you are indeed makin' enough.

If you do go WRX, CHANGE THE TIRES. If you can afford to right away, DO IT. Either get better all-seasons or go with summer tires and a corresponding set of winters, if you need them. If not, great.

I haven't changed mine yet, and boy do they stink! Bridgestone Potenza RE92, standard issue for all Subies (and many other cars). They rank right "up" (down, actually!) there with the Michelin XGT H/V4 tires that came on Honda/Acuras forever. Blech.

I'm planning on a set of Bridgestone RE950 all-seasons. I'd go with full summer tires, since I have a set of Nokian winters, but I live in New England... with all sorts of unsuspected bouts of weird weather, and I don't wanna be stuck some random October day when it decides to snow!

I like em both.. LIke you said if you want status get the S2K

But I tihnk the WRX would be pretty damn fun to mod.. And after a lil bit a work, You'll piss alot of people off when your zipping past em..

You dont like the enterior?? Change IT!!!

I have a 95 Eclipse...just your run of the mill last year. So I but racing seats in with 5 points, Changed the pedals, steering wheel, Shift Knob, e-brake lever, put some nice matts in. You could put a hell of a nice sound sytem in...dvd if you wanted too.

But lets be real...Picture that baby with an exhaust screaming!!!
Picture it with some strut bars and its AWD!! you'd have a snake of a handler!
I like the WRX

Actually the wheels available from Subaru are BBS, not OZ (unless they've added those to the list, too). $3,000 is indeed the price, and it's totally ridiculous.

You can get a set of built-for-Subaru OZ Prodrive wheels AND tires for literally half that. I really hope no pour soul got suckered into paying for those BBS things...

Hi

I have both cars, but my WRX is the older model. What I have to say about it applies pretty much to the new one also.

The Subaru has a cheaper feel than the Honda. There will be things about the details of its construction that have the potential to annoy you. Worst for me is the incessant trim noises that it keeps developing, and the huge number of small dents in the doors because the panels are so thin and soft. The paint also chips easily.

If none of that matters then mechanically it's a very impressive machine. The quality of the underlying engineering is excellent. Reliability is not a problem and the engine and driveline can take much more power unless four wheel spinning starts are what you like. Just respect the grip and all is OK.

You can easily and cheaply modify a WRX to completely walk away from an S2000 on any kind of road, so that's not an issue. My car is stock and the S2000 is more fun to drive on a mountain road, but the WRX more fun around town.

If practicality comes into it then get the WRX. It's a brilliant all round car.

Basically, if you can live with the poor detail quality (and it's built down to a price) then there's nothing wrong with the Subaru, but I'll never treasure and baby it as I do my S2000.

I'll agree on the interior problems. Which is kind of funny... I sold my '94 Acura Integra RS for the Impreza, thinking that the interior of the Subaru was nicer. In hindsight I think I was on crack.

I have seen 1 WR Blue sedan with the factory BBS wheels on it, so atleast 1 (and as far as I've seen, ONLY 1) person locally got suckered

Yes, the tires do suck, but thats easily fixed, even staying in the stock wheel size.

I've got a wagon, which gives up a little to the sedan in handling. That is quickly fixed with an upgrade to the sedan's rear bar.

Otherwise, I enjoy driving the WRX. Its not an S2000 -- pure sports car. However, among small cars it is pretty sure footed and I certainly have to say that I prefer the value of it to something like an RSX Type S...

And a few mods would make it quite the enjoyable wagon too
