In any event, I agree that styling is highly subjective. Not worth debating.
Take a look at the front end of the new 2002 3 series. I know the European models have a different front fender, hood, bumper, etc...
maybe this change isn't coming to the US?

The 01 and 02 three series share vitually identical styling.

Speaking of the WRX...
Does anybody know if they make a "rally car" headlight conversion for the WRX? I watch the FIA rally this past weekend and absolutely love the headlights on the rally car. The US version of the WRX looks like a four-eyed deer paralyzed by headlights! Literally!
Yes, I know they are drastically different cars, but the chassis/body panels are relatively the same.

I must have missed this thread.....
Take a look at ScoobyNet for the definitive source of info on the WRX.
Personally I got a MY00 2.0 Turbo and an S2000 and I think both are great

Scooby is great all weather car that little can keep with on the twisties (S2000 included).
S2000 is a fantastic looking car, goes like stink as well.
Which would I prefer......
S2000 is far more rewarding on a track as it can bite back.
Scooby torque out of a road corner is to be experienced to be believed (especially if you've got the "cheap" mods....
)
Horses for courses.... Chalk & Cheese etc
Depends on what you require!

AFAIK,
on i-club, there have been posts from some vendors about a Rally style conversion that is a black surround with the twin projector beams...
I heard they were going to put the turn signal above the projectors...
the other is the morette which has been mentioned... really changes the face of the car...
I don't know which I like better, but I have to chose one since I plan on doing HID low beams and halogen highs...
The WRX doesn't really have a pretty face, but its a fun tool

Japanese Impreza's (the whole range, including the WRX and WRX STi) just got a facelift. Yes, after being on sale for less than a year, Subaru already gave the car a facelift. Gone are the Neon-esque headlights and the grille has been changed to something more Legacy-like.
Here's a photo:
Expect this to come to North America in the next year.
Also, the WRX STi has just been released in Europe, with 265hp. European emissions laws are nearly as strict as US laws now, so it's a darn good possibility that this will be similar to the version that comes to the US.
I too have been deciding between an S2000 and a WRX, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to get the S2000. We already have two AWD vehicles in the family, as well as a wagon and an SUV, so I don't need the practicality. Also, the WRX didn't strike me as exceptionally practical - the trunk on the sedan is not very big and the seats don't fold down (for structural integrity reasons). The interior, as much as I want to like it, is just too low-rent for the price.
But the biggest reason is that by the time I finish modifying the WRX into the car I want it to be, the final price tag will have gone from $36,000 CDN for the stocker to $60,000 CDN. An E46 M3 starts at $69k CDN and an S2000 is $48,000, to put that number into perspective.
So, in short, I will buy an S2000 now, and I will tinker with it for sure (Bulletproof 2.4l stroker kit sounds sweet). Hopefully in a year or two, the STi comes over, but by that time, the new Z, the RX-8, possibly a V8 NSX, a new S4, and even the Skyline GTR might be on sale - not to mention the EVO 7.
