I am sorry but the whole intake thing is probably one of the most craziest things I have heard. I would NEVER pay $3500 or even $1000 for an intake. Intakes give minimal gains and require minimal parts/research (comparatively speaking) so I am only willing to spend a minimal amount of money. I honestly do not even think it is a status symbol unless you want the status of retard. I would be embarrassed to tell my friends that I paid $3500 for an intake when I could have a s/c, would still be embarrassed to tell someone that I paid $1000 for an intake when I could have gotten a reflash + some other parts, or a nitrous kit. If money flows like water to the point that you are willing to spend $3500 for a couple of hp, then it is probably time you move your dumba$$ into a Porsche 911 turbo or something. Let me know who is buying these parts so I can personally drive over to their home to smack them in the face and/or offer to sell some racing pin stripes or something for $5000 and tell them they will offer some great performance gains and status.

s2kfrog,

i see what you are saying, and agree to a point(although i won't be smacking anyone

i just don't see the point on something that does nothing really for you. Any exterior peices at least are seen all the time, and prob save some decent weight but this peice is kinda mindbottling.

I wouldn't pay 3.5K for an intake like that.

But heck, I paid 800 for a piece of plastic to make my car look like a rice-rocket, to make my trunk heavier, and to block my rear visibility. Then another 500 bucks to put on a tiny piece of ABS plastic to add more black plastic and my front bumper to stick out more. i.e. the CR wing + lip. That probably sounds retarded too.

It boils down to personal preference. If one prefers to buy a nice looking and expensive Japanese intake? So be it! It's his or her money after all.

I mean, if you ask me? I would say putting a 5000 dollar sound system into an S2000 is also a stupid idea for me! This car's so noisy, and turning up the audio system means you can't listen to the engine and exhaust for shifting. Or even in general, having a nice sound system in an sportscar is stupid. But then, that's just me. Some people do it ...
