Default Year 2000 Quality

A local guy with a year 2000 S2000 said he prefers that year, since those models were "hand built" to closer tolerances than those in later years.

Any feedback on this "advice" would be appreciated.

If anything the later years are better because '00 was the first MY and Honda was able to fix issues that came up during that year in future years. That said I've got an '00 and it's been great for me. I don't know where your friend's information came from but it's not correct.

local guy has some incorrect info.

All years are well built cars and shouldn't the reason to decide on a particular MY alone. Considering your location, you should look into a 02+ due to the glass rear window

BTW, is your local guy selling a 00 by chance?

All S2000s are "hand assembled" (so far), none are "hand built". And as Strike said, later models are probably better than MY2000 because fixes were included along the way. That said, I've got an '00 and it's been great for me.

Thanks for the feedback; sounds like any year is a good year with the S2000.

No ninegrand, I don't think he is selling. He's got big bucks in his 2000 and it is AWESOME! I have seen pictures online before but can't locate them now.

I am a VTEC fan and have an 03 VFR800 Interceptor; I am trying to convince my wife I need to trade it in for a much safer S2000.

I have had my MY00 for over 4.5 years and in comparison to other MY's I don't think it has had any more problems. I have had all the TSB's fixed (a must to verify if you are buying any S) and the car runs great. It is my daily driver and is on the road 12 months of the year.
