How is "The S2000 successor, which is expected to weigh less than 2900 pounds" Miata-sized?

Civic Hybrid Sedan is 2879 lbs.
I've no idea what the CTR weighs but the heaviest US Civic is 2923 lbs.

I would absolutely love a two-seat RWD Honda with a 310 hp turbo-4 engine plus the Civic Hybrid's small electric system for torque fill like in the NSX as long as it all weighs under 3000 lbs.

Meh, I wouldn't mind us getting a re-purposed motor. It just means more available on the market if you ever need one
Sure, I get that people want to say "look how fancy my engine is!" when it comes to a car like this but not me.
I wouldn't even mind the fact if it were that engine but de-tuned. Like someone else has said, it's not about having a bunch of power or torque for me with this car. That's why mine has remained stock. It's about the roadster feel. Those type r civic owner are eating their hearts out at not being able to have that feel in their car.

I'm glad the 2016 Miata was designed and released to be very similar to the original NA Miata in light-weight and more rawness. I think it'll start a lighter-weight trend in the auto industry and hopefully influence Honda as well..especially when it comes to the new upcoming S2000. We def don't need/want any more bloated, fatter, over-features/luxuries "sporty" cars anymore.

Hopefully Honda will follow the 2016 Miata's suit with their new S2k; making it lightweight too and as raw as possible and very similar to the original 1st generation S2k.

After seeing a Honda S800, a Honda Beat and a Honda S660 in close proximity at the Lane Museum in Nashville recently, I took note that all of my cars seem like bloated pigs by comparison.

Saw this on twitter last week and loved it. The rendering is gorgeous. Put the Type R engine in it, a 6spd like the original s2000, under 3k lbs and add some comfort things like heated/cooled seats, Bluetooth, A CLOCK, etc and you have the perfect roadster. Justifying a brand new car that sits in storage half the year isn’t possible for me. But this would be the car that could change my mind.

If they do release a convertible, my guess is it would still be and should be better than the Miata/BRZ's. I have visited BRZ's Forum and it seems like that they tend to agree that the S2000 is way better than theirs. As a matter of fact, I don't even know why someone will compare the mentioned vehicles when we all know that the Honda S2000 was and still is a far superior car when it comes to built and engineering! The newer Miatas may be faster but sometimes it's not all about the speed! I have nothing negative things to say about all these cars because they're great looking! But correct me if I'm wrong, I truly believe that the S2000 is still is ahead of the game even after all these years!
