18 wheel problem
I recently purchased tires/wheels at discounttiredirect and this is what i got.
18x7.5 45mm with 225 18 in the front and
18x8 40mm with 245 18 in the rear
the problem i am getting is that the rear tires are rubbing against the bumper/fender.
I called them back and they said that well, maybe if we put the 225 tires on the rear set, and you get 215 in the fronts that should solve the problem
They said that the offset in the rear, the 40mm is fine if i have 225x40 18
what do you guys think? i see that people have 50+ offset and they have 19"!!!.. they will take back the 245 but i have to do a lot of swapping. what to do?

dkhl,
I use 245/35/18 Toyo T1-S in rear and Yokohama Parada 215/40/18 in front. The original intent was for looks and to prolong tread life for wet weather...but I lost a shitload of performance in doing so. With these tires...I loose a whole car length on the launch compared to a stock S2000, and alot of grip during hard cornering is lost.
I am going with 225/40/18 and 255/35/18 Toyo T1-S next time around. My offset might not be high enough (18x8.5, +55mm)...and I will either have to raise my car a bit...or roll my fenders. These are decent tire sizes for 18's on the S2000. What I'm trying to tell you is that it would be a good idea to exchang/return the wheels and tires if you can and get some 18x8's (aim for +55mm) and 18x9's (aim for +60mm).
