When I turn on my car, just before I hit the start button,my engine light blinks 5 times then turns off and doesnt come on againis this normal.

 

Anybody?

 

you sure it's not the Maint Reqd light?

 

Mine blinks also, I have an 06, I have no problems. Think its normal

 

No its the engine light for sure, when you turn the ignition switch to the on position, the light turns on, after a few seconds the light blinks about 5 times, then goes out, then when you start the car the light does not come on.

 

Tried the jumping 4 and 9 slots on the obd 2 plug, no codes came out.

 

Talked to tech at honda dealership, he says its all normal.

 

There are two different lights on your dash, the maintenance required light, which reads 'maintenance required' in text and the check engine light, which looks like a little engine. If the light with the engine icon is flashing then you are correct in saying it was the check engine light. However, the maintenance required light will flash five times just like you report and it is perfectly normal, this means that the light wasn't reset at your last service interval. The maintenance required light just serves as a reminder to perform service to the car, it goes off after a certain mileage has been reached.

 

No its the check engine light that flashes, only if u dont start the car, approximately 20 seconds later, then turns off, supposedly, it does this as a check precaution for the system.

 

Can anybody ad any insight, to this thread.
