Default 2007 S2000 EPS issues

Hi everyone, I've been using these forums for a couple of years now but this is my first post and my first time even making an account! Besides that, I have a 2007 S2000 w/ 68k on it. For the last year or so I've been trying to diagnose a steering issue, I've been looking through this forum for someone that has my issue but I've only found people who have different issues compared to mine.. Sometimes the power steering works fine and other times when I start the car the EPS light is on and i have no power steering at all. Sometimes if I cycle the key enough times it will work again. As more recently though when I turn the wheel with the power steering on it makes a whining sound. Could this be a bad EPS motor instead of let's say the torque sensor or the steering rack? Also if this isn't in the right section I'm sorry, but thank you to every reply!

Do you grease the point on the torque sensor? Do you have the plastic splash guard under the steering rack?

When it comes to the EPS light, get the code. Im quite certain the code can be blinked out with a paperclip.

I've put dialectic grease on the plug itself before and I do have the plastic guard!

I was looking into doing that, I guess I'll have to- to get to the bottom of this! Thank you!
