Default Power steering EPS problem..

I'm driving to work today and my steering wheel is feeling alot heavier than usual. I've had a few people turn the wheel and they all say the same thing.
I've got no EPS light.. the steering is eaiser to turn then when the car is off.
So i have power steering but its not light as it used to be..

PLEASE help me....

Matt

Search for a thread about EPS learning procedure.

I'd be checking tire pressures.

Is there a EPS "learning procedure"? I'm familiar with the "engine idle learn procedure", but have never heard of EPS learning. Do you mean "Memorizing the Torque Sensor Neutral Position?

I second checking the tire pressures (cold).

That seems very odd. Easier to turn with the car off, but normal at highway speeds? You don't have VGS in Australia right?

Here is something I was reading about the power steering in my service manual:
(it is my translation from Dutch to English)
Under extreme circumstances, for example, constantly turning the steering wheel while not driving, the powersteering motor gets warm due to increased usage of electrical power.
This extra warmth may be bad or the system, as soon as the control unit senses it getting warm it will limit the electrical power send to the motor.
This means the power steering is less powerfull.
The EPS light will NOT turn on in this case.
As soon as the powersteering motor cools down, OR if the ignition is turned off, the controll unit will graduatly send full power to the power steering motor again.
Cooling down typically takes about 8 minutes.

Maybe this helps finding the problem.
