I have searched the board for a similar problem, but most seem to be problems engaging second gear. ie-the 1-2 shift. Mine is not this problem.
Essentially, I have no problems switching gears, but while in 2nd gear, it makes a constant "grinding" noise. When I switch to 3rd gear, no noise. 1st gear, no noise, but second gear has a constant rubbing noise during acceleration. Almost like the 2nd gear spring is out of place and rubbing up against something. (sorry, transmission illiterate)
Any ideas what this might be?

check your transmission fluid level, change it out if its old, have a sample of the oil analyzed. is still under warranty? have a mechanic listen to it. good luck

 

Did you ever find out what your problem was? This just started happening in my car today the same way you described
