Let my cousin drive my ap1 2001 s2000. 93,000 miles on her and i have not looked at the retainers yet, i am the 4th owner. Basically on the highway he downshifted from 3rd to 4th he was at 7,500 rpm when he did this. Car made typical loud sound but i heard a noise like a wrench hitting metal but i was not sure. Car ran fine after no weird noises or anything and no smoke. I daily drive her everyday to work 2 miles away. He did hold the clutch in after the shift so it did not go as high. ANY ADVICE WILL BE APPRECIATED

 

do you mean 4th to 3rd? Ether way, I would put the ap2 retainers in it so you dont have to worry about it later down the line.
