Isn't the S2000 a great retirement gift.
A whine is usually something to do with the gear teeth so with some luck you should have yourself a new set of gears. Great mod for a first mod, no doubt.

As far as a next mod after that.....take a high performance drivers education (HPDE) class or 6 and save your money. It takes about 10 grand (maybe 20 grand) to make a significant dent in the performance after the gears.

Ewhite,

It would be worth getting the second hand diff carrier and caps crack tested before using as you dont know what type of life its had.

For race cars I also get the pinion crack tested to make sure there are no cracks starting to appear at the base of the teeth.

Crack testing can be done by most engineering shops. (The same guys to rebore blocks, grind cranks etc). Its cheap insurance.
