4.44's or 4.77?!

Xviper told me that with his S/C and 4.44 gear the wheels spinning up to the 3th gear. Is your car NA ??

I have a cross brace and a front sway bar.

went to Calif Speedway to test , however had other mechanical problem(outer wheel bearing/hub), and have never been on this track.
1st impression. 4.44 is great can't see a negative. But a certain character of the car changes...that long rip you get in each gear to redline is diminished(shorter), and the powerband feels not as peaky...but acceleration is discernably better.
2nd, not sure yet on 4.77, many of above concerns seem valid, the improvement in acceleration is probably not as great from previous change, but my clutch may be slipping???, so again i'm not sure. But between gears, seem to stay in the powerband, so aceeleration from 2 to 3 to 4 seems more even. People who like the discernable slug of power that you get when you hit the top of powerband may not like, ie longer gear feels faster, but is slower. this is noticed from 4.10 to 4.44 as well, but powerband feels very flat with 4.77.
Botton line, if you already have or are getting 4.44 you will love it.
i will post back when i get my car sorted....but i'm keeping 4.44 until i test more. just wanted to post now since people were looking for feedback on the shorter gearing.

problem fixed, my clutch was slipping also so full brunt of 4.77 was dulled after install, so above impressions are somewhat off.
4.77's are really great....i've driven car without blower belt and the top end acceleration if fairly electrifying NA.
with blower belt on, the top end can be truly manic, and can be possibly too much on the street....although that's part of the fun. it can be so explosive that upshifting at desired rpm blurred. YOU'LL LOVE IT.
nonetheless, 4.44's are great and will be less tedious for street driven cars not constantly floored.
you can feel the difference between each from stock and 4.44 to 4.77.
i'm still keeping 4.44 because i may still consider the gear spacing helpful on the track and with future power increases. For instance if you look at Rylan's gear chart in the upper gears,
you will notice 4.77 essentially put you down a whole gear, whereas the 4.44 but you a 1/2 gear down, which actually gives you truly different cog, if you follow me. however, they may never get in my car again....
you lose a certain cool character to the car, that long pull charging thru the rpm range to 9K. having more midrange with stock gearing would be better in my opinion. i've driven Prolene's fully Mugenized NA with stock gears and stripped of weight and the character with better throttle response is somewhat more satisfying.
Bottom Line: getting 4.44, you will not be dissatisfied and will be a noticeble change, but MAY BE the better choice if you do not want a too constantly edgy car. 4.77 pack the punch, will not make car unstreetable especially as long as you crave acceleration over just medium paced driving, which is why you r considering this anyway.. Note, i drive balls out....your results may vary. someone should put 4.77 in a stock car and let me drive it.

Is there much difference between
a 4.77 rear otherwise stock S/lightly modded S versus a S/C S with the OEM rear ?
Is the traction with the combination of S/C + 4.77 difficult to control? Is it much difference to S/C + 4.44?
TIA

i have had the 444's in for a month now. Very nice street improvement...took a little away off the top end comfort cruise end with the earlier vtec in 6th when highyway cruising. I think 477 would be a bit too low for me unless i lived in the mountains or was autoxing...n xviper is right 444's with sc need some getting used too you can bounce the limiter very easily as the power curve increases.....but from a street perspective...they really do give the S a lot more kick... i like them...
