Maybe it's just the method of delivery but I think advising people in your area to "ditch the grill cover" is a bit extreme. It seems to fly in the face of your other comment "I like the grill and would recommend it to almost anyone".

I think a more appropriate approach would be to put the facts out there, as we have done and let people make there own informed decision.

Mack,

My quotes are perfectly consistent:
"My advice to AZ and TX folks is to ditch the grill cover."

"Again, just to be clear, I like the grill and would recommend it to almost anyone. AZ and TX are special cases, where I would not recommend your product. "

And I am putting the facts out there --
AZ heat + AC + Grill cover = stalling/hesitation in stop/go traffic and 4 bars
AZ heat + AC = no stalling/hesitation and 3 bars

I realize that you are locked into the opinion that 4 bars in meaningless, but there is no need to try to call me a hypocrite. If you can't see that Tennessee and Arizona are different enviroments, that having 3 or 4 cars ALL WITH GRILL COVER running at significantly higher temperatures than the other 2,000 cars on this board has meaning, then I don't know why you are bothering to reply to every post I make on the subject.

Let me try once more:
1) Pretend that you had an analog temperature gauge which ALWAYS sat at halfway, until you installed a new grill cover. Now it sits at 70%. Would that bother you? Maybe not.

2) Pretend that you have driven your car in temperatures ranging from 35 degrees to 116 degrees, driving slowly or driving in VTEC for 30 minutes at a time, in stop/go traffic or on the track, at sea level and at 8,000ft, and only see the gauge give exactly the same reading. Exactly the same in a huge range of conditions, ok? Now you install the grill cover, and the gauge now reads higher temperatures; racing at 5700ft altitude with AC didn't move the gauge, but getting off the highway after driving at 65mph with the grill cover causes it to rise. Would that bother you? You say that it wouldn't, I say that it would.

3) Your key argument seems to be that reaching 4 bars might be a change of a few degrees, since we don't know the scale used and it is a digital gauge. This is true; but if you read my posts, you will see that I had 3 bars even in the worst case conditions (racing at high altitude with AC at close to 100 degrees) without the cover. This tells me that 3 bars is a very wide range of temperatures. I believe that 3 bars is the normal operating range and 4 bars is abnormal (with minimal evidence). You believe that 4 bars isn't important and means nothing (with zero evidence).

I would appreciate it if you would sit down for a few minutes and think about my arguments.

Tanqueray-

O.K.

I'll try and not be too long winded here. Oh and by the way I've taken that time out you requested to gather my thoughts and sift through your "argument". Although I'd prefer to call this a friendly exchange of ideas!

1. I find this whole 4 bar thing amusing. I think I even stated this earlier in the tread. Obviously you are taking it a bit more seriously than I.

2. In replying to this thread all I'm attemping to do is add some balance. Obviously you have your opinion and I have mine. Thats part of an open dialoge.

3. As for 4 bars being "meaningless".....I never made such a statement. I think it has great "meaning". The car is running warmer than when it dispayed 3 bars. That doesn't mean there is a "problem". How can you be sure your car is warming up to proper operating temps on a cool day? This may be just as grave a concern.........

4. As for evidence. I have zero?? I sighted the owners manual. You might want to reread that in case you overlooked it. I thought it was very insightful. We have 3 more bars to go till we have a "real" problem or maybe there's some bigger conspiracy going on here...........Honda wants you to drive the car with 4 bars or even 5 till you cook the motor so you can bring it in for warranty repairs.........wait a minute thats money out of Hondas pocket.

5. and once again i still stand behind allowing owners to make their own informed decision based on all available information and I trust they'll do a good job of it!!

Thanks

That was good!

OH MY GOD?!?! I have to go to the garage right now and take off the front grill. You think it would hit 4 bars with the engine turned off and parked?
