It weird how we all come to different conclusions.
On over 600 different cars, if I drain it for 1.5 hrs, and change the filter, pitching the car nose down and to the right while draining, it will take 5.9 quarts to bring it to the top of the top X.

The oil filter plays a role in how much oil your car takes to. Use a small filter like Napa, M1, K&N or the small Honda filter made for most of the other Hondas, you will ues less oil to fill after a filter and oil change. Or use a larger than stock filter like I do and put in six qt's. and call it good.

I had a peek at my shop manual, as per the factory service manual 5.9 quarts is listed under engine overhaul, 5.1 quarts for engine oil change with filter, 4.8 quarts oil change without oil filter. This is per the 2002 factory service manual, I'm not sure if it changed for other years ?. I usually let my car drain for long periods of time and I don't get near 5.9 or 6 quarts, it is strange how people get different fill quantities.

UPDATE:
Well since I do not drive my 09 S2000 that often it has time to sit so I can get an accurate oil level check.
Here are my results. I let the oil drain for a while. Pretty much down to a drop every 30 seconds or so.
I use a OEM Honda filter. No modifications on my engine that affect the oil capacity. It is all stock.
I added 5 quarts then I started the engine and ran it for a few minutes to circulate the oil in the engine, filter and also check for leaks. Then I added another 14 ounces. The oil level is at the full mark on the dipstick. The oil level is at the full mark after the car was sitting in my garage for several days.
174 ounces added = 5.15 liters or 5.44 quarts.
There you have it folks.

The full mark is to the top X point when the engine is hot and has been shut down for a couple minutes. Reading it cold could be a different reading and could be a different oil fill amount, it doeesn't matter either way afaic but it might explain the differences in oil fill amounts people get.

If you want a higher by-pass(20 psid) get the B202 filter.
I have over 24k miles with these filters on my "S" but I have over 2 million miles with
Baldwin filters on all my vehicles(over the road truck driver for over 25 years).
It fits where the stock filter sits, might not fit if your turboed.
This is a big filter.
