I frickin' hate our dipstick. It's always hard to read it when the oil is fresh compared with other cars.

Yes it is. I have a buddy that drilled a small hole in his dipstick(not a Honda but still a plastic dipstick) about half the way between the full and add mark, that way when the oil gets up to the hole the(new) oil will fill the hole and he knows he is close to full.

Another factor is that Honda changed the specified oil filter for the S2000 during the production run. The replacement filter is larger and presumably holds more oil than the old filter.

S2k has always used the same size OEM filter. The part #'s have changed but the size remains the same. Other Honda models call for the small filter which dealers still stick on.

Good idea, I think our dipsticks might be too thin for me to drill ?, I find them real hard to read with clean oil.

I have done the oil changes since 10/03, new on my 04. I put in 5 quarts and then top off if necessary. Usually it takes just 5 quarts. I have not had to add any oil ever, 57,500 miles now. THis is a great car, one you can service yourself. Be sure to adjust the valves now and then, I have done this twice and it works really well...worth the effort, I can do 25 mph all day in 4th if I choose to.

I had to use brown packing paper to check my oil after its oil change... I ended up marking the paper with the oil otherwise the new oil was invisible.

Just did change on ap1. Car on jackstands tilted very slightly forward with right a bit lower. Filter change with large s2000 specific filter. Took 5.9 quarts to top of x's on dipstick. Did long drain. I would say 5.9 is the number! -
